in my yard ... with temps near 100 for two weeks.. and drought for 6 weeks... i am getting the same on all kinds of yellow tissued plants ....

and the fact that you moved it .. and it isn't established ...

and i watered well ....

for 2 years after transplant.. i always expect damage ... on yellow tissued plants .... and 99% do just fine over time ..... and my favorite dies.. lol ....ken

So basically you're telling me to relax. Except for . . . that little teeny 1%. LOL! OK, but at this stage in my gardening learning curve, I tend to get concerned over everything.

just water properly ... email me if i need to explain that .... make sure it has water deep into fall so it doesn't get too thirsty during winter ... keep your fingers crossed ... and ...

yes have a beer .. relax .. not much you can do about it ... moving it is only more stress .. maybe rig up some shade .... i vote for relax and just a little worry ...

PS: winter in zone 8 is a mystery to me .... so i hope someone with specific info in that regard chimes in .... bboy must be on vacation ....

gweb email isn't the best lately .. i will presume its about watering ....

with trees/conifers... infrequent DEEP watering is better than the opposite...

water as you usually do .. then take a small hand trowel ... and dig under your trees.. kinda hard with motherlode ... but do it.. see if your watering protocol has gotten sufficient water to the root zone...

presuming you planted potted plants... with roots throughout the medium .. you need to be sure that water is making it all the way down to the roots ... since you have multiple plants.. try differing methods on each and see how the watering works

ergo .. a long deep trickle to insure water throughout the root zone.. once every week or two is better than a superficial spray every day ...

it is hard to tell you more than this because i don't know your soil... and how water moves through it ... i give you variables.. you have to figure out what they need in your yard ...

in fall ... even with the cool weather... we tend to forget that it can be drought ... a fall droughted plant can suffer damage in the winter ...

here in my z 5 ... hoses start freezing in late October ... and one becomes inclined to roll them up and put them away .... but the ground doesn't freeze until after new year .. i have learned the hard way ... that conifers and trees benefit greatly from a last deep watering late in the fall ...

again ... i have never gardened in z8 ... nor a zone that the ground doesn't freeze .... so i don't know what to tell you.. other than the above....

it seems that a lot of 'sperts' aren't around... perhaps they are on vaca ... i hope one comes along and clarifies it for your zone...

do understand that the brown tissue will not recover.. we just want to stop the spread ...

conifers hold their leaves ... needles... for 1 to 3 years ... so your brown tissue will continue to hang onto the plant for a few years ... next spring... it will either bud at the tips of the brown area ...if the buds didn't dry .. or it will bud behind the brown tissue ...

keep it well watered this year.. and in drought next year.. after which it should be pretty free range ...

do understand that conifers, for the most part [there are always exceptions] .... do NOT like wet feet ...standing in water ... they should nearly dry in between watering .. this is sometimes problematic to those who plant in clay ... where drainage can be an issue ...

That's where I was confused - the wet feet part.

The plants were 4" pots last fall, and the soil is good normal soil with good drainage. They're in full sun, and we might get a few days of snow up to a couple of weeks.

My other conifers planted the year before . . . they should be left alone now?
