1st REAL daylily bloom!

Ok, Dumortieri finished blooming last week, I've had a few blooms on Stella, but here is my first real bloom, and the first bloom ever on this plant. It has looked ready to bloom for about a week now, yesterday it even kinda opened, just at the tips. Last night we had a big storm, I guess that made the holes in the flower, & it looks a bit tired. I'm making you look anyway, cause its my first!

I think it deserves a gold star as it definately wanted to open for you and start the daylily show. A pretty flower with lovely color.

That's right Rita. I'm wondering though why this one is early for me and the Stella's are late???? Jean, I have tons of scapes but nothing that's to near blooming. I'll stay outside and watch them though...Hehehehe!! Absolutely right hosenemsis... ngraham, I was impressed with the bloom. I have sprayed a couple of times and that one is one the thrips seem to love. Thank you Cindy! bigjack, I am very happy to see the blooms begin. was a tough winter! Thanks for the comments. Femme de Joie is one of my favorites too. I apologize for mislabeling one of the flowers. The flower labeled Subtle Glance is actually Vision of Beauty. What some beauties you have blooming.Your pictures are fabuleous today. Looking at your first picture,I seen them REDS way off to the right and I thought they were HEARTS OF FIRE, so I was happy when you said thats what it was, mixed with the red roses.That is really beautiful.Wish my blooms looked just half that good right now.I make sure every day that my plants have enough water, but,I have a bunch that is burnt to a crisp.One of my KNOCK OUT roses is one,and I am hoping I dont lose it.Now, marigolds can take any thing, but, today I have a bunch of them,thats burnt to a crisp also.That HARLANS PRIDE is a beauty.I really like that one,and APACHE WAR DANCE is beautiful.I also think END OF SEASON is a beauty, too, and my favorite of them is HEARTS OF FIRE.I just love all of these Reds today. I had a bloom on CHINA BRIDE again today and FIERY MOMENT too, but, the heat really melted it today.Got up to 104 today and felt like 110, weather channel said.Suppose to get hotter the rest of the week. That is so true Lynn. It can be so disappointing when the first bud opens on a long-awaited new daylily. The heat did amazing things with both color and ruffling/edge development for me this summer. I was just loving my reds and purples. Much of my disappointment has been due to buying from photographs that glamorize the color and what you thought was pink was really more tan than anything. But even those should be given at least one more year to be sure.

It's a beautiful bloom...sometimes the blooms get attacked, but I'd post it too. It is a really beautiful color.

I'm very pleased with it. I've been watching it all week, waiting & waiting. I was afraid it would be hideous after all that, but I've certainly had worse 1st blooms.
