There are some daylilies that make me break out into a grin. Hopefully here are some pics of one that seems to have a real 'personality'.

FELLOW: 'Check out these hockey sticks'.

Is the correct name of this daylily Hockey Sticks? HFellow? Running for the Border? I'm confused. Thanks. Or is it one you hybridized? It's beautiful, but I could not find a daylily by any of these names when I googled it. ??? Anyway, I love it!

i got one for xmas in fl and i decided to keep it to see if it'll rebloom for summer. i have another short-day length plant that i rebloomed successfully sev times: begonia reiger. so i figured why not try ? it has produced new colored bracts for me in march (2 clusters) - i kept some of the older ones (4 total) to keep it going like ronalawn advised in prior post in 2012. it is still developing new flower buds. am waiting to see if those will color up. i did not give it any 'dark treatment'. it self-branches quite nicely. i still have sev older branches with pink bracts doing well and growing new colored bracts. and the way it goes - i think i will get re-bloom in the fall: my xmas cactus and begonia reiger (both short-day bloomers) rebloom in the same position west window without special dark treatment, just natural nights. even though i do get some street light. that darn kid is in every one of your pix.. isnt there a spray for such??? lol i too used to have a dwarf infestation ... along with his pal the golden.. they seemed to end up in every pic ... relish these times.. soon they will tend toward teenager ... and refuse to turn off the laptop and walk around with you ... and all you will be left with... will be pics of him in your garden ... ken

Does your Kitchen Aid Paneled DW stick out?

Yes it will stick out. I had a paneled DW that was flush with the cabinets of 24" depth. I just got the KUDE70 SS model and it sticks out the depth of the door from the cabinet fronts, but it is still under the granite overhang so it looks fine and in fact I can see the lights in the top this way which is very helpful. But if we had used a panel model it would look bad in my opinion and would stick out way beyond the other cabinets, probably at least an inch and a half. I suggest either no panel or going with a European brand that is not as deep.

I love grits and I eat it with sugar sprinkles sometimes. I make a cheese grits soufflÃ¯Â¿Â½ that is a beautiful dish and taste wonderful. I know I would like that pie. And man oh man I love me some shrimp and grits.

The name of the daylily is FELLOW. I just added the captions. He was hybridized by Childs in 1975. Sorry for confusing you. Those were pics from last year. I got him from Sunset Meadows in '06. Just wanted to share them 'cause they make me grin.

Love that color! I really like a lot of Child's work.

Interesting how dark those stamens are, and how the coloring follows the flower color exactly on both pistil and stamen. Really makes them stand out- yes, LOL, like hocky sticks.

Thanks for sharing, Lrae. It is beautiful. Weird that I could not find it online. Can you tell me if it is an evergreen. I'll put it on my wishlist for the future. Lovely flower. Is it one of those dark ones that need to be in a shadier spot or can it deal with the sun? He is a lovely Fellow.

Fellow is a dormant. I don't know how far south he can go and do well. Here in NC it gets pretty darn hot. I have him in full afternoon sun, he keeps color well.

Lrae, Too bad he's a dormant. There are few of them that can live here. I understand they need cold. We don't have much cold weather, very few freezes. Too bad. it's a beautiful daylily.
