I know how much I appreciate looking at inspirational pictures. I took these on my walk through Savannah Ga this morning.

Thank you so much! Beautiful! What are those shrubs with the purple flowers? They're gorgeous.

Only thing about having the climbing roses at the doorway is that I am deathly afraid of wasps. They'd be all over it if it were at my house. lol

oh climbing roses! I didnt know what those yellow flowers were! The purple and fuchsia and red and white is Azelea. Savannah is covered in Azeleas.

Thank you all, and especially sena and mamagoose for the great ideas! This is amazing! There's so much to think about here. The former owners had the fridge in alcove the way you've pictured it in #1. Part of why we're reno-ing the kitchen is because it just seemed too awkward there. The rest of the kitchen was one wall of upper and lower cabinets along the wall with the sink; the stove was in the middle of the wall against the bathroom (without a countertop or cabinets around it). Next to it sat a portable dishwasher. I'll think about these ideas and look at the aisles more tomorrow. The kitchen I just left, which I loved, had aisles this size or smaller, so they don't seem too small to me, but I know it means that you can't get by if any of the appliances' doors are open. Also, and maybe because it's because I've never had the space, but I don't usually prep the food on the counter between the sink and the stove. In every house I can remember cooking in, I've always transferred it to an island. I think I feel a little claustrophobic working on a countertop below an upper cabinet -- which is odd because it's not like I'm tall -- I'm just over 5'. I think I also like facing the room (and others in it), whenever possible. Mamagoose, you asked about the animals. My gf has 2 large dogs that will eat anything that they can find and two super-intelligent cats. The cats kept opening the upper cupboards so she tried installing child locks on them, but they had figured them out before she was even done with the install. I also have 2 cats who are wonderful in that they don't exhibit the slightest interest in human food. All of them together make it a zoo. Thanks again everyone, please keep the ideas coming!

I'll play. I'll try to catch up on the other photos on the appropriate threads. With the exception of the immediate photo below (you'll guess why I'm including it), I'll try to keep this to my new build, not my current legal residence. Juvenile venison, he/she seems to have a twin, too. Connecticut, yesterday. Cannas plants. I planted them late, but they seem to be thriving on the southeast area of my future home. Massachusetts. These ones will be vibrantly red, probably starting this week. A few weekends ago, I had house guests up at my future home. That red dot is their drone, with which we had fun.

Urooj, No worries at all! I read almost all of John Grisham's works at one time or another up to like 2010...then life got really busy and I dropped off. It will be a good read...haven't read in YEARS. I still pick up "The Testament" every so often because it is great again and again. His books are the types you can dig into multiple times and keep finding little bits you missed. I don't have a hard copy of this one...so it's just as well it is added to the collection :) My grandparents used to like to vacation in Biloxi, MS...and so my parents often took us down to meet them at the gulf. My grandmother and mother loved/love Grisham also and they used to drive us around to show us the places Grisham is famed to have eaten/stayed etc. Biloxi is featured in a couple of his books (including runaway jury) and so when we used to vacation with them I would always take a Grisham novel. It makes me feel nostagic!

Hi Kristine, Yes, we are getting prepared here and watching the forecast closely. We are about an hour inland from the panhandle coast (a little closer as the crow flies) so we won't get the brunt of the hurricane but we could still get lots of rain, some wind, tornado spin offs, flooding, loss of power, etc. Our wells are electric powered so we do have to prepare for that. I am filling up two huge horse water troughs left by the previous owners, for the animals' water today , just in case.. as well as water bottles, jugs, etc for us. I always keep some milk jugs of clean water in our freezer, frozen, in case the power goes out, it helps keep stuff cold much longer as long as nobody opens the doors up too often lol. We do have an older generator that works and a gas chainsaw. The last hurricane that hit near us in FL, we lost power and got trapped in by fallen trees and power lines, etc across the driveway lol. Many stores are already selling out of some things here & even on the east side of the state from what I hear from relatives there. Hopefully, it will miss us but once its in the Gulf, its gonna hit somewhere so I hate to wish it on others. I am worried about the farm animals. I have one very pregnant doe (goat) due any time now. During H Rita, when we lived in Louisiana, we had a very pregnant cat who went into labor just as the hurricane hit. She was having her kittens in the car as we evacuated. We also had our parrots in the car with us and our dog. All the hurricane shelters were full of Katrina refugees from the month prior, so we literally spent a week in our car. We had 6ft of water in our town so we had to wait for that to recede before we could return. There's something about barometric pressure changes and labor lol.

Do Azeleas smell as good as they look? What pretty pictures, thank you for sharing ALL of them ;) I got some new ideas on how to handle the short walkways leading to my house's doors. And I enjoyed all the color. Things are just starting to bud out in Northern Nebraska. This was a treat!

Glad you enjoyed them! Its a pleasure sharing them. Unfortunately, Azeleas dont really have a scent. I've never noticed one at least.

Savannah, Ga. is a beautiful city, as is Charleston, SC and Wilmington, NC in the Spring and Summer. If you've never been to any of these cities in the Springtime, you should go.

Those are stunning! especially that yellow rose. What is that? I have never seen one with such a mass of roses. Beautiful!

I think the yellow rose may be a Lady Banks climber. I love vines over porches and entryways!

Really beautiful! I didn't expect to see a hydrangea in bloom, though. I could be wrong, but I thought they bloomed after the azaleas. Is it me, or is this an early-blooming variety?

Springtime is indeed a beautiful time to visit all those southern cities. Actually, it's the only time. After that it's hotter and wetter than your armpit. Springtime is, however, inspiring! Truly a lovely sight to see all the azaleas adding endless color everywhere! I'm glad there a rhododendrons for our colder climate up here as it gives me a taste of azalea time in the south.

Those pictures were wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing!

I like the live oak tree dripping in Spanish moss. That looks like a good tree-climbing tree. Great pictures!
