Right now a friend and I are trying to determine who fits that description. I spray and she doesn't. She lives about 25 miles inland from me and we are keeping records. My records go back about a year. Those plants that would not give up their rust have mostly been removed from my garden. Those that are left can be kept fairly clean by spraying.

Its difficult to give you a list of rust buckets because a friend who lives in North FL has received many of my offenders and they are not rusty for her (she sprays too). My thought is that some of the problems I have is due to my very warm location. It is possible that the rusty ones had dormancy in them and they were stressed in my yard. Some looked stressed, others didn't.

I'm lucky that my winter temps kill the rust. The two times I've had rust, Chance Encounter has been the hardest hit of any plant in my garden. Its offspring, Absolute Treasure, seems to be another rust magnet. Many of my Stamiles are very rust prone. Precious Candy, Arctic Lace and Winter Springs repeatedly had rust outbreaks throughout the summer and fall despite being cut down to the crown. Many of my Munsons seem prone to getting rust too. Apollodorus and Cameroons seem to get it the worst. Never Been Kissed was also exceptionally rusty. I am so glad I haven't seen any rust this spring, despite having the perfect weather (cool and rainy) for outbreaks.

there is a rust survey on the net that you can google. it lists many dls that are prone to rust and some that seem rust resistant.

I'm sure that my weather contidions are a major reason for the rust activity that I see - - long, hot, humid summers followed by a fairly long mild fall where evening temperature drop quite a bit. For me, the two worst offenders were Admiral's Braid and Sunshine Gold. I've fought it successfully (as much as you can gauge success) with Enchanting Esmerelda, Great White and Baracuda Bay. Infections on these plants were less severe. I finally got rid of Admiral's Braid because it was infected early and kept re-erupting regardless of my spraying. Sunshine Glod has another year, but I will be watching it closely. Others showing a few rust infections last year included several that were new to my garden, and a couple of treatment and the rust did not re-appear on them.

Thanks to all who have replied, I think this is very helpful. I am very fortunate to never have had rust. I do have some of the cultivars that some of you have mentioned that you have had rust on, so I will be keeping a close eye on these. I'm wondering if there are certain cultivars that are actually prone to it because of their breeding, no matter what the growing conditions are, or if it's more the weather/climate.
Anyway, I hope more people respond to this, thanks to those who already have.

I bought Spc Starburst 4 years ago from a Florida garden. It had rust that fall and I like to have freaked. It was the first sign of rust I ever had. It also was the first daylily that I got from Fl. I cut it back and sprayed it several times that fall. It hasn't had rust since. I guess that proves that our winters are just cold enough to kill the spores. Praise God for this!

Since then I have bought at least 50 - 75 plants from Fl and many have had rust the first fall but none the next year. I had more last fall because I bought more plants than ever. I'm anxious to see if it returns this year. We didn't have as many cold days this winter. I sure hope I don't have any this year. Oh me, just checked my Lily Auction account and I bought about 20 plants from Fl last fall that I got in this Spring. I bet this means I will have it in my isolation area again this year.

I bought 4 daylilies last year from a seller on Ebay. All 4 broke out with rust shortly after I planted them. The worst of the lot was 'Glacier Bay'. I began a good spray routine and almost all my DL's cleared up pretty well, but 'Glacier Bay' just kept rusting away the entire growing season. I've faced the fact that I will most likely be dealing with rust again this year. Any time you have numerous daylilies coming in from various locations, it's more than likely you'll bring in rust. So even though rust doesn't winter over in my zone, I just assume I will have to deal with it each year until I decide not to add any new CV's to the garden. I doubt that that will ever occur. There's always a CV I feel I have to have.

i_c_dillies, as far as your question about rust resistant you might want to check out Mary Gaskins 08 intro "Tree of Gascone", she has some information about it on her web site and she thinks it has good rust resistant properties.

GALAXY EXPLOSION, by Burris, is a suppose to be a rust resistant cultivar. I ordered it, and it came this week. I must confess, I didn't get it because of the rust restistant factor, I ordered it because my husband said "Wow, I like that"! So I ordered GE for him, and ORCHID VISITATION for me. WOOOOO HOOOOO!

Anyway, when I started this thread, I was curious as to which cultivars might be repeatedly mentioned by different people, and we could establish cultivar 'rust buckets'. I guess though that any and all are susceptible unless they are hybridized for rust resistancy.

Glad your GE and OV arrived ok...Hope you enjoy them..I have been soooo busy shipping...we have it down to about 40 more to go now...I have been watching the other threads on the rust issue but I am very reluctant to join in because I think no matter what I had to bring to the table It would just get slammed one way or another..So if you want to come over to a place where we can talk about some of these issues without being interupted with counterproductive statements then ask Ed..He knows where Im at..Anyway..I will say that rust should be discussed in a positive manner. Thats the only way to really get solutions. So if that can happen here you guys have Ed or someone else get ahold of me and I'll be glad to share what I have learned and my genuine feeling about rusts, rot, and other problems..Let me know..David.

The only "Thing" getting slammed is Simpleton. I am sure most people here would appreciate the knowledge you can bring to the table here. Rust is a problem that many have to deal with. Your experience with Rust, Rot, and other problems would be very important to share here. Please do...Most of us just ignore the lost one...anyway. I hope we get to here from you!

Thank-you for responding. I'm sure I will enjoy GE and OV. I couldn't get off your website for days on end. I think the information you and Brian include is so helpful and interesting. Sharing information is such a positive thing to do.
When people have a common love and thread some of the things they do is mentor, or encourage, or just answere questions. Those who don't know things due to lack of experience, rely on someone who has experience to steer them in the right direction.
I've been frequenting this forum for quite a while, but have just recently started posting. I've learned a lot from people here. It seems the rust issue is a very touchy subject, but avoiding rust, and/or learning to deal with it is of utmost importance. Those of us who are inexperienced need that information, and we need it from those who have dealt with it. I for one would like to see it discussed here from positive people who aren't going to give up on our beloved daylilies.
