Silver city / unknown juniper

I visited Silver City, NM this weekend. I went hiking about 15 miles north of the town, to Signal Peak (elev 9000ft). Pinus reflexa, ponderosa, edulis, Pseudotsuga, and Juniperus deppeana were the 5 species I saw. I also found one juniper alone, which I think is J. scopulorum.

Things that I noticed,

1) The smallest Pseudotsuga cones I ever seen, avg 1"

2) P. reflexa cones longer than those found near Ruidoso, NM

Some more photos, Pseudotsuga

P. reflexa new cones

Broom on Pseudotsuga ( I saw about 3 of them)

Lastly, I visited the University campus, and I was surprised to see

Sequoia

Sequoiadendron
