We are supposed to have a possible frost, right now, he is predicting no hard frost. With all the silly scapes, I hope not! It has been in and out of the forecast for the last couple of weeks. You are right though, we usually have one.

Possible freeze and frost here in WV for the next two nights!

On no, the weather has been so warm lately. I hope no frost damage to any of the plants.

It has just been SO warm, it blows my mind. They aren't predicting a hard freeze, but who knows. Temps feel quite chilly today, although supposed to be in the low 70's. That would have felt amazingly warm last month. Getting to the 60s for the next week. At least the weeds should slow down (I hope).

We have had frost/freeze warnings over the last couple of days here. Each day we seem to avoid it but next week, temps are not suppose to get above the 40's with nighttime temps in the 20's. It has slowed everything down with the cooler temps.
I don't want the season to go so fast I can't enjoy it.One good thing about cooler temps...great to work outside if only the north westerly winds would die back a bit.

We are supposed to have cooler weather next week and I certainly hope so...maybe it would slow things down a little. I found scapes on SC Brazen Bandit today along with Cosmic Kaleidescope. They are popping up all over the yard.
Too soon, too soon. First bloom was May 3rd last year...aand they trickled in to begin with. I don't want a hard freeze, but a nice cool-down would be great.

We have a frost predicted for tonight here, but just barely. They are predicting 32 degrees. It briefly hit 31 the other morning. Fortunately there was only minor damage, but I still hope they are wrong about tonight. Yesterday was sunny and 60 and I worked in the garden most of the day. Today it was cloudy and windy and didn't make it to 50--way too cold to spend much time outside.

It has been an interesting spring here north west of Guelph. We had that very warm weather a few weeks ago and everything started growing well. It really didn't look like we ever had winter with how green everything looked right off the bat.
Well that has changed drastically. It was good it cooled off because that slowed things down-well really stopped them for the most part. I had lilies emerging and fortunately they stopped growing. But some things look quite bad now. The lawn was so green and lush and now it is mostly brown again with some green shoots coming through. We have had so many hard frosts that I am beginning to wonder about stuff that looked good a month ago. Some of my grasses look like they are dead now. Some daylilies look fine while others are just wilted over. Other than those by the house most were about 4-6" tall. We have had no rain at all so things are drying out and getting frosted. We could really use a good warm rain soon.
I will be really interested to see how all of my daylily seedlings make out. They were really growing well when things turned cold again.I think it will be very easy to tell the ones that have a southern parent this year.
The weather has been great for getting our fields seeded this week but the hay fields we have now look terrible. The alfalfa is yellow and the top leaves are dead and the clumps of orchard grass have had a killing frost twice now and just look like big brown blobs all through the field. I guess it is still early and hopefully we get some rain and a bit of heat for the next few weeks to get everything back on track! But for now below freezing temps the next few nights again.
Makes you wonder how many times daylilies can get frosted and still grow!

Well, they changed our forcast, maybe no frost next week, but possible tonight & tomorrow night. Seems kinda borderline, so I'll probably be ok here, temps not even getting down to 32.

We had frost this morning :-( and it is downright cold with that north wind blowing again today. Not even comfortable to go out and do some weeding.

Freeze warning here tonight - it will likely take out the tree peony ( in full bloom - drat!); maybe the dogwood blooms. Azaleas are just starting to open so maybe they will be spared. They are the late varieties - neighbors have them in full bloom so they will all freeze. We knew that March was way too hot and that this could easily happen.

We missed getting a frost last night, but now they are predicting one for tonight. Not much to do about it, but hope for the best. Hope nobody gets much damage with this crazy weather. Now we have to worry about drought here. We're already 6.5 inches below normal for rain this year!

If you have a treasured planting, and you don't mind seeming a little odd to the neighbors, there is one trick I have used to save azaleas etc. from a sudden overnight freeze. ( regular event toward Easter) It requires long extension cord and and a fan. Before the freeze, that night, place the fan facing the planting so the air blows on it. This prevents frost from settling on the plant and prevents major frost damage. the fruit growers have done this for years, so I took a page out of their book. Good luck.

One year, we had three good sized fans bowing through a couple of nights. The azaleas were beautiful though, so it was worth it. If the threatened freeze does materialize here some of these silly scapes will have a fan blown night too.
