Julia Child rose is drool worthy.

A month or two ago, someone posted a picture in the CG gallery forum of the softest pink rose. It was the most beautiful pink I had ever seen. I wish I could remember who it was and the name of the rose.

Oh oh oh, I know! I know! It was Frogview who posted the picture and the rose was Antoine Rivoire. GGG I think everyone of us who saw it said it was the perfect Cottage Rose. Honestly, the picture just left us all saying Ohhhhhhh, LOL! I hope you can find it in your searches. I hope Frogview will see this and repost it for you.

Regarding your pink rose, there are so many options that it really depends on what you like best and the room you have available. From the ones I personally grow, Old Blush is a classic china in bloom for most of the year. It is absolutely carefree for me. The blooms are not very large, but they are very delicate looking and the color is really... like old blush (not sure if people blush anymore...).

Ispahan is another beauty I grow, a damask rose with an unbelievable fragrance. A larger shrub, so it requires some room. I have posted photos of it under the Roses thread started by Token, if you care to take a look. As for hips, the one I grow that sets small round hips that look almost like berries is Ballerina, an hybrid musk that confuses people because the blooms look like hydrangea :-). Very pretty and carefree, the hips persist well into Winter. I also grow a pink old tea called Baronne Henriette de Snoy which has the most amazing ruffled flowers. The only drawback I can think about it is the absence of fragrance, at least to my nose.

From the OGR suite which I don't grow I can remember from the top of my head - Mrs. B.R.Cant (large rose), Mme. Antoine Mari and Duchesse de Brabant. I don't have first hand experience with them, but the folks at the Antique Roses forum can shower you with recommendations.

I have a part of my garden where I'm growing yellow and pink flowers as well. This is the area where I'm growing Ispahan, the Apothecary's Rose (great hips, but it may be too strong a pink for you) and Baronne Henriette de Snoy. Next year I'm planning to add a yellow rose (probably the tea Lady Hillingdon) and a bicolor old tea to tie both colors together (currently leaning towards Rosette Delizy, since I can't seem to find Mrs. Dudley Cross for sale in Europe).

The photo is listed as odd guy in garden over on gallery. But Antoine Rivoire needs spraying.
The polyantha Perle d'Ore is a GORGEOUS, PROFUSE BLOOMING, REPEAT and NO SPRAY. Its gets larger than other polyanthas making a nice shrub in z7 NC of 5x5. Its blooms are loose with a button eye. If I can find a photo I'll post. I lost her last year to RRD. She will be replaced! A must have in my garden for continuous color and interest.
Another is a Tea (tho what I call hot pink) Marie d'Orleans. This is a no spray and is small for a tea. Altough, with time all teas get large.

Good morning GGG ~ It is so nice seeing you in here again. You have been missed girl. We are in a horrible drought also, so I've not bought any new plants in about a year now. Am planting seeds, and keeping things more grouped together for watering purposes.

I have two roses that have been mentioned, no spraying for either one and they are gorgeous roses. They are both wonderful roses, with beautiful scents.

I also have DdBrabant and Mrs BR Cant, both in a no spray garden. DdBrabant is extremely healthy little to no bs, vigerous growth. I also love Mrs BR Cant but I did have a bad time with bs for the first year after that it has been very healthy with very little bs. I think it just needed some adjustment time. Cant is a more med/darker pink with silvery edges and like Eduarda said it gets big. Brabant is a beautiful light to med. pink with a really pretty cupped shape. I also have MRs. Dudley Cross again for me she is one of my healthiest roses. I love her has she changes her colors in the spring and fall. Spring she is a beautiful yellow and pink and fall she has no yellow but is more of a med. pink. Hermosa is a really pretty rose with smaller flowers in a med. pink. IT blooms non stop all summer but mine does get some bs. However because of the amount of blooms honestly you wouldn't even notice as to me it doesn't take away from it. It's a China though and you mentioned teas. I will say that poly's don't do well for me here. Bad bs problems. My teas and noisettes do the best for me.

you must of had polys of the 1920's, ie Margo Koster, Leonie Lamesch etc. Perl d'Or is from the 1880's and is Earthkind. Maybe you should give her a go.

frogview-I have Marie Pavie and The Fairy and Climbing Pinkie (not sure if these are of the 20's or not). Climbing Pinkie is not too terribly bad, but still bad enough. By far the worst is Marie Pavie and the Fairy. Terrible bs to the point that if MP doesn't shape up this year she may be going. The Fairy puts out such a nice display all summer that I've held onto her. She's in a large pot on my patio. I have teas, chinas, noisettes, polys, and now knockouts. By far the worst are the ones I mentioned other than that Hermosa can get a fair amount if we have a lot of rain but comes back nicely. All my roses are no spray, full sun. I did try last year to spray the polys but it hasn't seemed to help. I don't know but I just think either they just don't like my garden or they just don't like humid SC. ~Meghan
