New members of my plant family. Names unknown. Please help.

Bought 4 plants at the garden center yesterday, only 2 of which I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This one looks like a Euphorbia, kinda like Euphoriba tirucalli but it looks a bit different than the one I already have.

And this one. I have not the fogiest idea what it is.

Thanks for any and all help. Always much appreciated.

I believe the first one to be Euphorbia tirucalli 'Sticks on Fire', or Red Pencil Tree. That's what it looks like to me other than it hasn't gotten the red in it. The second one is some type of Rhipsalis for sure. What type of Rhipsalis I'm not sure. I could be wrong on both accounts as I'm no expert. Just my two cents!

How did we come up with Kotex, Pidge? I made the proverbial deal with the devil. You know, you negotiate the rules, but not the particulars, and you think you have all your bases covered, but you really don't? When we were getting a kitten, I knew Steve would want to name her "Hoser." For 20+ years, he's wanted to give that name to an animal. He even suggested it for Izzy. So I pre-emptively put my foot down. I told him he was not allowed to name our kitty Hoser, since it was a stupid name and a boy's name to boot (we knew we were getting a girl cat). I said he could name the cat, so long as he abided by my naming guidelines: 1) The name needed to be phonetically dissimilar from Jazmyn (Jaz) and Isabella (Izzy) so there would be no confusion. 2) The name should somehow relate... as in it should contain a Z... or even an X (I was imagining "Xena" as an acceptable possibility). 3) The name needed to be unmistakably feminine. ... and that is how I got a cat named "Kotex." Honestly, my eyes rolled a lot in the very beginning, but now I'm more amused than anything. It doesn't really matter to me what a cat is named anyway... I mostly just call them all "Kitty" regardless...

I know the spected one is an aloe maybe both are that's all o can provide but I'll look into it now. the left aloe; Aloe aristata Haworth 1825 (Torch Aloe) from South Africa forms a small stemless 6-8 in rosette. The triangular soft green succulent leaves have raised white spots, especially on their undersides, finely toothed edges and filamentous tips. The rosettes offset freely and with time will form a substantial clump. Offsets may be removed and used for propagation. Aloe aristata is often grown indoors as a window-ledge succulent plant, but it is very hardy. In the Drakensberg mountains it grows at up to 7500 ft and is equally happy growing outside through the wet English winter, provided that it is potted up in a very free-draining medium. It does well on a sunny patio, potted up in almost pure granite chippings mixed with a small amount of soil. i can't see the right one but you maybe able to spot it. dormant shipping is just fine ... either direction ... the problem is if z8 stock has tender new growth ... and is shipped to colder zones ... it would be subject to frost freeze harm.. or death ... if the stock is actively growing.. you would be better off holding them in the garage until your threats of frost/freeze are near done ... i think yours were fine .. from the pix ... they are dormant.. and acclimating to your zone ... snow is irrelevant ... dont worry about it ... freeze would worry me... but what are you going to do ... cover them all with sheets for the night ... what i was afraid of.. was that you got so excited.. and made another order .. for delivery in a week or two ... and the stock would come budded out... or actively growing ... ken

Glad to hear the good news. I totally get the heart-stopping feeling. When my now 4 1/2 year old twin grandsons were born at 36 weeks, one spent 1 week in the NICU then another week in the step-down unit. The other twin had blood and bilirubin issues and spent 2 weeks in the NICU, where they performed a total blood transfusion at 8 days old, then 2 weeks in the step-down and then we spent the next year running back and forth to hematologists and pulmonologists. Interesting finds. Yes, likely to the first ID (pls. read up on Euphorbia sap as a potential skin irritant, if you don't already know about it).

Sorry, but I disagree on the 2nd ID. Not Hatiora sali..., the segments are too long to be that, Hatiora's are shorter, more 'bottle' shaped, hence its common name Drunkard's ... do a search for them, compare w/ another photo, you'll see what I mean.

Some kind of Rhipisalis sounds good to me, sorry, don't know which.

If my suggested IDs are correct, that would make the 1st a succulent & the 2nd a cactus (FYI).

Please heed Karen's warning about the sap - E. tirucalli can be particularly caustic.

You're almost right - that's a regular E. tirucalli.

I'm getting better at my ID's! This is good news! I'm still no expert though! Maybe once I'm done with school I'll take a few horticulture classes.

Thanks everyone for the help and words of caution. I have several Euphorbias and am well aware of the sap. I'll do some googling now that I have a place to start. Thanks again and anymore info is always appreciated.
