Droop or climb? Night-Blooming Cereus

Phloxy

Hi, folks --

Two years ago, someone gave me a cutting from their night-blooming cereus (hylocereus undatus, according to Google search), and I just stuck it in with a pot of ivy and it got the same rather neglectful care that ivy did.

Now I've got these succulent arms (about 18" long) coming out of the pot and I need to do something more serious (cereus) with it.

I see a lot of beautiful flower photos of this queen, but it's hard to tell whether you experts let the arms fall and dangle, tie them to a trellis, or what.

I'm just waking up to the potential beauty of this plant and want to do the right thing.

Thanks very much in advance for your advice.
