DH grills turkey again -- awesome!

DYH

My DH grilled the Thanksgiving turkey again this year. It was so moist and tender, the meat just fell off. Here's how we grill it:

19 lb turkey is what we had

rubbed it down with extra virgin olive oil

patted in Herbs de Provence

put it on a roasting pan with rack

DH preheated the gas grill and had it cranked up to around 425 for about 45 minutes. Used 3 burners on the grill.

Turned off the middle burner (kept two side burners going) and got the temp down to 350.

Poured chicken broth into the roasting pan and threw in some fresh sage leaves (coarsely chopped) from the garden.

Kept the lid down until internal temp reached 165 (we use a remote thermometer with digital read out. This took 3 hours.

Brought the bird inside to the kitchen and covered him with foil for 1 hour.

Cut off the wings and legs and put on the platter.

Cut off the breast halves and carved to put on the platter.

Had 10 people here and there was about one sandwich in leftovers plus the wings. That's with a honey baked ham here, too. LOL

Thought I'd share --- it freed up my oven and warming drawer for DS1 and I to make all the side dishes.

The three of us had a great time cooking in the kitchen. Now, I've just got to get the big clean-up streamlined next year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Cameron
