Jade Leaves Turning Pink?
Comments (9)Hi, Christina! Yes, it could still be recovering from that cold snap...if any roots died, then the Jade would have to re-grow its roots before continuing with foliage production. Have you looked at the roots? If the leaves are still firm when it comes time to water, you might try waiting a few days to see what happens. I wait until I can feel that my Jade's leaves are no longer turgid. I water until the leaves become firm. Then, in the weeks following, I simply squeeze a few of the leaves to determine if it needs water. Since I know that my plants were firm after the last time they were watered, any softness in the leaves indicates that the plant needs water. This way, I never have to "remember" or write-down when to water ;) And for Mcdill, I couldn't resist taking a few more pics. This is the straight, large-leafed Crassula ovata exhibiting similar though not nearly as dramatic coloration as the small-leafed Jade I posted above. On most of my Jades, the new growth tends to be red....See MoreJade leaves turning black/crystallized
Comments (7)Totally sunburnt. Phoenix sun is so harsh and by now, it'a mindblowingly hot, no? Perhaps it would have adjusted better if it hadn't rained and saturated the soil, but in any case, that is what sunburnt jade looks like. :) The heat in my area is no joke either. Same city, two miles away from my other house and all of my succulents decided to basically become toast in a matter of a few days. They're recovering now but I usually pluck off the affected leaves and let the plants rejuvenate themselves. My area is nowhere near as hot as PHX and I keep my jades in partial shade, dappled sun at best, with virtually no direct sun, for what that's worth. Hope that helps!...See MoreJade Plant leaves are turning yellow?
Comments (9)The fungal infection was over three years ago so I doubt it is relevant to whatever is causing his current problem but that was the only time he has ever been sick before. It caused brown spots to form on his leaves and then they turned to holes but i removed all the effected ones and exposed the roots to oxygen and it killed the fungus that was making him sick before. This girl I was rooming with in college at the time was taking botany and she said it was a fungus. Either way everything she suggested worked and he got better. Whatever is wrong with him now is definitely not the same thing but I dunno how to treat him for anything else especially when I do not know what is wrong. I just potted him into that soil a little over a week ago and I waited a few days to water him afterwards. I would have waited longer but his leaves started getting soft, which is what they do when I forget to water him for too long. As for the soil, it's some kind of succulent/cacti soil that comes in a yellow bag from Walmart. It's the same kind I always buy (with the exception of the last bag that had gnats - I got that one from Home Depot although it was the same brand) and he has always done well with it. Can anyone give me suggestions on a better kind of soil to buy that I don't have to mix myself? I live in a one room apartment and it wouldn't be practical....See MoreJade Plant Leaves Turning Light Green
Comments (3)When I was using grow Lights a couple years ago for indoor plants, the lights were putting out over 25,000 lux. 400 is starving them. as far as watering, I’d use the dowel method. Insert all the way to the bottom and Pull out and Inspect. Dark, damp with soil clung to it = dont water. Clean and dry = water. water thoroughly until water is freely Running out the drain holes. Let the plant drain in the sink and don’t let it sit in the spent water in a saucer. Lastly, Houzz is still annoying. the app randomly capitalizes letter for no reason. And doesn’t capitalize where needed....See Morenorma_2006
