Black Hills Spruce Help

At my local big box home improvement store today, I saw 7 gallon Black Hills Spruce. This is not something I have seen in Oklahoma City before. Blue spruce, yes, dwarf Alberta, yes, Norway spruce, sometimes, but not black hills spruce. I know it is a white spruce, but will it take the summer heat and hot sun/wind as well (or better, or worse) as the good grafted blue spruces (hoopsi, bakeri, fat Albert)? Everything I read says it is tough and withstands the heat, yet most publications list it only tolerant to zone 6 on the south end. Is this because it is not tested in 7 or will it not make it. I wouldn't think the store would sell something that isn't for this zone, but I could be wrong. What do you think?
