Thursday tea...share a picture from your garden?

I thought it might be fun to share a picture or two of our gardens. It's a little rainy today, but I moved two gallica roses yesterday, so I don't mind, at all. They haven't bloomed yet, but hopefully, they just need a little more sun :)

Here's a picture of my Celsiana damask rose, which is just starting to bloom...and has a lovely fragrance!

So, what's new in your garden? Are you sitting out there, enjoying your tea today? Anyone making any treats? I'm thinking about pineapple upside down cake, which my mom loves, in the summer.

I'm glad I saw your thread. I haven't taken a single garden pic since May and things are starting to look ragged now. Another reason I haven't taken a pic is because it means letting the camera adjust for 10 minutes to the humidity. If you don't this is what you get ...

I took about ten nice photos of the garden the other day, trying to get the 360 view, but that's too many to post here. Maybe I'll do that in the Gallery some day. So I chose this one for Thursday Tea.It's been a beautiful day, but I only puttered around a little early this morning dead heading and doing a bit of weeding.

I just came in from having Yorkshire Gold tea in the orchard under the apple tree. It's so nice and peaceful down there until around this time in the afternoon when people begin going to and coming back from work, then it's constant traffic up and down the road. Even though I'm shielded by the privet hedge tunnel, I can still hear and see most of them. Time to leave.

Hi, everyone! Elizabeth, I'm so glad you stopped by...I hope you'll 'pop in' anytime :) It's been so busy, here, I haven't had any time to garden the past few weeks. I'm hoping to get some work done tomorrow, after work. So much weeding to do...but I know the deer will find and eat my roses, so I'm waiting a little longer to pull out the cosmos and little daisy weeds. They're so cute, but they do spread! Luckily, I have very well behaved deer (so far) and they don't walk into the beds, just stand on the grass and nibble what sticks out past the lavender. The taller roses are the ones I'm hiding behind the weeds! LOL It's been a long week, so I'm going to relax with a nice cup of Earl Grey and play with my garden plan. Elizabeth- I saw your post, on the other side and I think your new space is going to be wonderful! How nice, not to have frost until October :) Annette- My mom hates weed cloth too, for the same reason. She inherited a bunch at her old house and swore never to use it, again. Your shopping trip sounds like fun, especially the daisies! Becky- Your photo is beautiful and I would love to share a cup of rose and jasmine tisane with you...it sounds so good! Your rose is such a lovely shade of pink. Is that from your garden? What kind is it? Cracking- I hope your butterfly bushes root, this time. They're so pretty, with the roses and cosmos, blooming in front of them. I think your tea from China sounds very interesting. Do you know what kind you have?

Rita, That is an incredible group of blooms! They are all gorgeous, and there is no way I can widdle my favorites down to even two or three. The ones that I found most stunning were INDY HEARTSTOPPER, PROOF POSITIVE, WINNING NOTE (I got it last fall and can't wait to see it bloom after your pics!)BASS GIBSON, EXTRAVAGANT, and HELLO HEARTSTRINGS (Another I am anxious to see bloom for me. I also love the depth of color in your CELEBRATION OF ANGELS. Mine doesn't look quite as velvety, although it is a bloom machine and I love it. Can't wait to see what the weekend brings you! Julie

Hi GardenHo, yes the white house in the picture is mine and the expanse of lawn used to be pasture for our horses while they were still living. The section of fence alongside the house was part of our pasture fence, and the fence that runs between the house and barn is part of the fenced yard for our dogs that opens off the kitchen. The unmowed areas in the foreground are future forested areas. Trees are growing there but are still small. I envy you your sedums. My efforts to grow them have not been successful. As with echinacea (which also doesn't want to grow here) I think my soil is too rich and they must prefer sandy soil. However I have hopes that my newly planted lobelia will be the equal of your beautiful plants by and by. Those blue flowers are lovely!

Today we're having welsh cakes with our tea, I froze the batch I made the other day, if left out they'd be gone ;).

Welsh Cakes? Never had the pleasure, but sound yummy. All I could muster was some store-bought Pecan Sandies.

Oh, your roses and other pictures are so lovely! I attempted to make homemade iced tea today and it turned out fairly well, but what I really want is to find a recipe for Thai iced tea - that is some amazing stuff!
I will try to post a picture tomorrow - I have been holding a teething baby in one hand lately and dabbing pollen from daylily to daylily with the other. It is so fun. I feel like I need a gossamer lavender dress and some shimmery wings and tiara as a pollinator costume. Lol
