The different cuttings I got from Karyn a while back look like they are going to make it. I am so happy about that. They were stuck at the post office over the weekend since they wouldn't go check and see if it was in "the room" on Saturday. I just went again today to the post office and had them put a hold on all my mail and put my cell # so they can call me if I get any packages and I will go pick them up instead of them stuffing them in that mystery room that things they don't feel like delivering yet get put into. Our shop will be closed til Thursday and I am expecting several packages so I hope they do this for me. One thing I ordered that was shipped ups got sent to Illinois instead of TX and they said it was re-scheduled for delivery on Monday. I told them we won't be there Monday. Thats why I paid the extra $15 for overnight delivery 4 days ago! They pretty much said too bad nothing we can do about it til Monday then you can check on it again but it won't be left if nobody is there. Shoot I have had a bad day and still grouchy. Sorry for the rant. Theresa your plants look really great. Nice to be able to look at the pics and smile.

We just got back from the coast, the cuttings I planted 2 weeks ago, in my new brugmansia bed, are doing great. I added 5 more cuttings today, and placed the umbrella greenhouse back over them. I planted them real close, so I could fit all of them under the umbrella. We are going back on 1-21st. Barry the cuttings you sent me, love it in Texas. Barbra,

They aren't babies anymore!LOL The white stuff, or at least it started out white, is perlite mixed almost 1/2 with soil & a little peat moss. Worked well for me.

Wow! What great pics. I am so happy for ya'll and in awe at the same, and a little depressed I might add (JK) My DH moved my pots out of the garage and I didn't know it, I'm not sure I can get them to live, but there is green in there when I cut them back, so fingers, eyes & toes crossed. I have them in my bathroom now and will keep them there, lots of light, I'll try a little TLC and hope for the best. But in all comparison, I haven't even begun to be a beginner compared to you girls! I love seeing your pics! Do ya'll put your cuttings in regular potting soil or something special? I did have some cuttings in water before he decided it would be a fun thing to masacare my brugs.

Oh no. I hope your brugs live. I don't allow my husband to do much of anything around my plant stuff other than dig holes. He is bad about pulling things out he thinks are weeds when its stuff I planted or throwing away things he thinks are dead and are only dormant. He was feeding my mums at the shop coffee and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with them then I reminded him he uses cream and sugar now and plants don't like that, lol.

Aren't those guys the best? At least they give us funny stories to share. One year my hubby was being very helpful, an weeded the veggie garden for me. What a sweetie. Only problem, I had planted all this corn, which looks a lot like grass when it first comes up. Bingo. No corn. Only time I've ever tried to grow it.

Lol! I know, he really felt horrible about it. I told him, honey don't feel bad, just feel how thick the statement is from the credit card next month! *big grin*

theresa, I looked at the fuzzy brug in picture #4 and it's really cute- what is not so cute is those two Double White cuttings I sent to you- they don't look right- can you please put them in quarantine!!! So sorry but that is not right!

All my doubles have fuzzy leaves, including my seedlings, so far!

My husband usually steers clear of the garden & doesn't help unless I ask for it. He will walk around the yard with me & is proud of the fact that these plants cause people to stop & stare. He's the greatest guy in the world but last summer he backed over (with his truck) a big planter containing my Golden Lady, broke it off & tried to bury it so I wouldn't notice. I noticed right away! He apologized & I dug up the cutting he broke off. Also this summer, he was helping me weed. I didn't ask him to & I was at the other side of the garden. He pulled the only raspberry bush in a row of weeds. It was 2 feet tall. He waved it in the air at me & says "Hey! This weed has a tag!" I told him it was gonna cost him. LOL

DH has screwed up a few times with my plants. Most recently running over some double daturas with the mower. Don't ask, they were a few feet tall with seed pods. He also does as much or more work in the garden then me. He'll also use his suppliers to locate plants that I'm looking for so I'm kind of stuck. Too much bi#ching wouldn't be in my best interest. lol

Theresa, this may be broadmites, altho I sent you cutting w/o leaves. Also, we have some problems in the South with stuff living in the soil- my Dr. Suess started out four years ago as a beautiful plant, second year okey, third year, does it need something and fourth year, definitely something wrong, went into a decline and had to dig it up!

Just do an isolation ward with these two and see what happens!

Barry, everything looks so green & lush. Reminds me of my plants.Not for long though. I'm not taking any chances with my plants if it is broadmites.Giving warm bath with Dawn, repotting & STRIPPING off LEAVES!!!Man, It's so upsetting.

EEEEK! I hope that spraying and soaking each and every plant of mine with malathion will do the trick! (taking out the big guns!!)

Can I strip all the leaves and use neem oil? Thats all I have on hand at the moment. I used some rose spray on the other plants that is for spider mites and fungus but didn't know if I could use that on the brugs.

Wow! The cuttings look great everyone. I feel like I missed so much stuff going on because I wasn't on very much over the holidays. My cuttings are doing well for the most part (will post pics when i get a chance. I potted some of mine up the other day in a different kind of soil...it didn't turn a light color when it was dry like my other soil I used.. so I would have killed all my cuttings if I hadn't checked the soil with my finger today. But no harm was done and most cuttings have leaves or are starting to grow some. Only one that looks bad is one of the cuttings I took of my NOID white.

Looking great oxmyx! Amazing how plants just brighten up everything especially in winter. Is that an icebox/pot in that photo lol? I love the nasturtiums :)

I haven't had the heart to take all my leave off yet, but I know I need to. That sounds like a good Fiday night project, both my teens will have guest over so I won't be real busy!!

SJN ~~> a cooler filled with Perlite for rooting cuttings.

I am not stripping leaves as of yet. On Saturday and Sunday it may get into the 50s, so outside they go and I will do a heavy spraying with a mix of Methoxychlor, mineral oil or Neem oil and dawn dish detergent. Worth a shot before I destroy the forest foliage :)
