We moved from the countryside into the suburbs 2 years ago. I recently drove by the our old land where I had established a "mini pinetum", and observed the following:

Pinus patula(one example) - did not make it

Pinus thundbergii (4) - thriving!

Cedrus deodara (2) - doing fine

Cedrus deodara 'Aurea' (1) - doing fine

Pinus ponderosa (1) - did not make it

Pinus taeda (6) - doing fine

Pinus elliotti (4) - doing fine

Sequoia sempervirens 'Santa Cruz' (2) - looking ragged but alive

Cunninghamia lanceolata (1) - lots of brown needles(this was kind of an exposed location) but putting on new cones and foliage.

Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca' (2) - did not make it

Cryptomeria japonica 'Tansu' (1) - aside from the Japanese Black Pines this appears to be thriving the most

Metasequoia glyptostroboides (1) - doing fine

Picea pungens 'Fat Albert' (1) - did not make it

Pinus nigra (3) - holding on (some yellowing)

Pinus virginia (1) - doing well

Taxodium distichum (2) - doing fine

This list only includes those which were still alive when we moved. I also planted many varieties of maples and oaks.
