Well, here I am again, still wondering what the heck this Clematis is! I thought that, yes...it must be a Moonfleet, but now in its second year, I noticed that it's one of my first clematis to bloom. It set buds in April, and bloomed in mid May! The blooms are large, too. I went to Clematis on the Web and entered the info on this one, and the search came back as 'Baltyk, which is an early flowering Group 2 clem. I'm now assuming that this mystery clem of mine is a group 2, but is it a Baltyk? Here's a pic I took this past weekend. Any opinions? Thanks! The color looks wrong on my monitor, but the coloring looks something like my Asao. You could do a search on Clematis on the Web, which is a wonderful resource.

I was told by friend of previous owners that it was clematis. To be honest I am not sure if leaves change colour. Not a dramatic change anyway like the red leaves on that plant when I checked it out on google images. It does lose its leaves on autumn/winter. Sorry for vagueness of Info but I have only recently taken on the job of gardening!

Certainly looks a lot like my Ramona although your picture is loads better than mine. Of course in your zone, you don't have to deal with the bleaching effect of the sun like I do. The following pictures show 3 flowers of Ramona of differing ages and how the sun can bleach the flowers out.
