Will touching a fence bother Mugo Pine?

Hi:

Got a long 5'4" or so tall home-made fence with treated wooden posts & boards, and 'farm wire.' Planting a series of shrubs along it, aiming for shrubs roughly 3 to 8 feet tall, and a variety. Seriously tempted to make one a pine from a local nursery, Mugo Pine, Dwf, ENCI per the tag. Should fill the bill nicely.

But online I ran across a dwarf conifer article that indicated some of these don't like being crowded by other plants; just touching a neighboring plant can cause the involved part of some dwarf conifers to languish.

Since the Mugo would be planted perhaps 1.5 to 2 feet out from the fence & eventually grow into it, would contact with that metal wire fence bother the Mugo?

Thanks!

Richard.
