plant and prune The President?

I searched the forum but am still unsure about whether to prune right after planting.

Yesterday, I planted a one-gallon the President from Monrovia. It has three healthy looking vines. I know it belongs to the type 2 pruning class but that it should be treated as type 3 for the first three years.

I did not plant it very deeply. The Monrovia planting guide said nothing about planting 3-6 inches deeply. The crown is just below soil level and well mulched. Watered yesterday and today.

I could dig it up and plant it a few inches deeper.

Do I prune it now or wait until next spring?

Thanks.

Rachel
