I have a nice one, but he is slightly burnt from this heat wave.
I personaly, like to keep all of my succulent and cactus babies attached to their parents. If there is a bunch of babies, i take one or two off as insurance in case the mother dies.

Zeck, thank you. I also like the 'full' look. It's just there is so many of them, maybe I'll take few largest ones off & leave the rest together.
This one is in full sun, but we don't have as intense heat as you.

Rina, your plant has come a long way. Good growing. You may want to give it more light to bring out the dark color of this hybrid and get it to set flower spikes. The problem of dividing is you end up with lots of plants and unless you have a way of finding new homes for them, you create a situation where there is no room at the Inn!!!! The picture is of my Echeveria 'Black Knight' and as you can see I have way more than I want and I've already given away several of the smaller ones you see in front.

Do you have any idea why yours didn't make it? Too hot - too wet - too humid - or? (just wondering/gathering any info)?
We did have some very high (hottest on record for us) temperatures even if for short time. It was also very humid for a while. I have to admit that I never repotted from the soil it was in. Plant is outside in full sun until about 2pm. Also, I left it 'unprotected' from any rain we had so far.

Thank you for chiming in...yes, the 'Inn' is getting smaller as number of potted plants that have to go in for winter is getting larger!

It is in a 6"pot right now, maybe a bigger pot would be good if keeping it all together?
The color is still nice dark on top, just all new growth is greener - maybe bit shaded by top? Or even more sun - it gets it until abt. 2pm now.
Does it bloom in fall/winter?
And btw, if separating - do you let it callus like most succulents?

Yours has already bloomed. And, yes, you cut off the pups and allow them to callous. Mine is just now starting to send up flower spikes and probably won't open until late October early November. I leave mine out in full sun all day long. It also keeps the flower spike shorter and more compact. If I remember, I can post a follow-up picture.

Hi Rina, love your healthy echeveria black prince. I live in NY, im having a hard time how much is enough water for my echeveria and all my succulent, last time this echeveria arrived from the seller in february and they did put the root ball in water a lot, so when it arrived it was wet and cold. but after 2 months all the lower leaves are gone but then it stopped because i open the rootball and made it dry. it left only the top part but quite healthy until now since I moved it to the east facing windowsill (usually i put on a coffee table near glass door). the leaves one by one turned yellow and wrinkled on the edges a little bit red purple but not squishy. is it lack of water?? because i only spray mist it...lightly watered. or ist it because the pot too big? or because of I moved it ?

I am not expert on succulents, just learning...
Is that photo when you first got it? Do you have photo as it looks right now?
Mine doesn't look as nice right now as it did - lost most of it's color and it's etiolated - not enough sunlight (whatever it gets thru the window+fluorescent lights). Don't have recent photo, but have few 'babies' either from cuttings (photo attached) or even from the leaves.
I water mine approx. 1/week, I don't mist it.

It's good that you dried out the wet soil. Did you change the soil? It needs good drainage and as much sunlight as possible.

Yours look pretty great, Rina. Mine hasn't pupped once for me in three years of it being fairly large. I guess I don't have the touch!

Howard, all your plants look like 'Black Prince' to me. Gorgeous as well!!

Rosemarie, you are correct. All of those are Echeveria affinis 'Black Prince'. I had its compatriot, Echeveria affinis 'Black Knight' but the stem rotted and I was able to save only a few leaves from which these have grown. They are green because they haven't really seen much sun.

Good looking babies you have; even if green, they are more compact than mine.
I ended up with 12 plants from offsets (pups?) - just like 2 in previous photo, and I have also 6 babies from leaves (photo attached).

Rina, I warned you about this prolific Echeveria! Yours look fine. Just give them lots of sun. I have so many of these... I have to stop saving all of them and just give them away!

You did, and I believed you...the temptation to save anything is still there. But I figuered out that at least I'll have some to give away if anybody wanted some. Will have to stop too.
Is the 'Black Knight' as prolific too?
