Hi guys!
I live in NY, im having a hard time how much is enough water for my echeveria and all my succulents, last time this echeveria arrived from the seller in february and they did put the root ball in water a lot, so when it arrived it was wet and cold.it get frost damages but after 2 months all the lower leaves are gone but then it stopped because i exposed the rootball and made it dry. it left only the top part then i planted it in a new soil and pot. It quite healthy until now since I moved it to the east facing windowsill (usually i put on a coffee table near glass door of south facing). I thought it would like fuller sun in the morning so i moved it to the east facing windowsill but now the leaves one by one turned yellow and wrinkled dry on the edges a little bit red purple but not squishy. is it lack of water?? because i only spray mist it...lightly watered. I am afraid to make it water thoroughly since or ist it because the pot too big? or because of I moved it next to the window where it gets more sun?

this is second pics, actually I already moved it to this smaller pot and make the rootball exposed again to the air and put it back to the coffee table next to glass door in my apartment. I don't think this is too much water, it looks dry on the yellow leaves...is it stressed out because I moved it with too much sun? I thought echeveria like fuller sun...or maybe because I never water it thoroughly because of traumatic with all the leaves drops and rotten before? when it gonna grow new rossettes on the stem>? I read it will grow new rossettes head on the stem, is it true??

should I water it or just let it be...??

please advise soon...help...i dont want to lose this again

It looks healthy. I would water then drain it. Echeverias are easy and forgiving plants that require regular watering, bright lights and average soil fertility

So much good info.. thanks for sharing all. Here's something that has worked well for me. I run 2 "farmers" drip tapes down my 3ft wide garden boxes. This tape is inexpensive - 6 cents a foot and I throw it away at the end of the season. I've only found it at the local AG center. It is very quick and easy to connect and lies flat and straight without pinning down. These lines attach to a section of regular black irrigation line which is permanently anchored across the width of the box at one end and connected to a hose bib. The connectors (the adjustable type sold for that tape) allow for the exact amount of water needed to that particular line by using a screw driver in a little slot to make the adjustment. So for beds that have established plants and perhaps a row of seedlings one can make the appropriate adjustments for the exact amount of water needed, ie wide open for the seedlings - less for the mature plants. I've set my beds up with timers too and bird (heavier type) netting around the sides (about 24 inches high) attached to round metal stakes (in case of a wandering rabbit or chicken or whatever. I can throw a shade cloth over the whole thing easily too. Also I've found the narrower beds easier on my back to work in by the way. I've tried a number of different drip systems and this is the best I've come up with for this hot dry area. If you try it be sure to have the little holes "up" so that they can dry out between waterings. I'm trying to cover all the bases but there will be something else I'm sure..... Figure it might make a difference now but in ten years the tree will have to tolerate all the clay and water unless I just build a hill. ===>>> right presumption .... wrong conclusion ... the babe .... does NEED THE DIFFERENCE RIGHT NOW .... so you are correct ... but in 10 years ... IT WILL HAVE PUT ITS ROOTS were ever it feels was most proper .... given a good 'establishment' period.. MOST trees will cope with the given situation ... in clay ... drainage is the issue ... as roots need air as much as water ... and by elevating them above the grade.. you give a small plant.. a small area .. to get established.. and once it does... it will cope in the long run ... i will leave it to others to define specifically whether beech is problematic.. i am speaking more of planting protocol rather than the specific tree ... did you mention an oncoming first child .... if so ... Impatients dying? too much water?

I don't have much luck keeping NG impatiens indoors, unless they are covered in a dome or in a bag. The one I tried to overwinter this year didn't make it. They seem too susceptible to fungal diseases if kept humid and moist. Yet if you keep it drier, then they start wilting and dropping leaves for lack of something. I've yet to see them happy indoors, though I wish. They'd make an amazing houseplant if only I knew what it wanted and could provide... That said, maybe it is a lighting issue. When I was more successful I had it directly under the lights with my other plants, though bagged. (Even then it remained tiny and lanky, so even the fluorescent light may not have been enough.) When it died was when I took it away from that area. (I was concerned about viruses and any thrips.) Outdoors: In my shade garden they performed, though didn't bloom as much as the ones kept in the full sun back area. (those received over 6+ hours of full sun.) The sun ones (all were kept in containers) performed well but were constantly wilting for lack of water, even if given daily. N.G. impatiens seem to demand more light than regular ones. My guess to grow them indoors long term would require a high intensity light or something of that format. *sigh* a bit out of my budget to buy or maintain.

Using anything from Behr was his first mistake. When you say "deck paint" this is a solid color stain (no wood grain shows through)? Your post is interesting vader as I have never heard someone be unhappy with a deck not absorbing moisture (this is a good thing). The downside is Behr products do one or both of two things. Turn black and moldy and peel. There formulations are loaded with acyrlics and acrylics are the curse of deck maintenance. I'm not sure that the the Behr can be directly blamed for the long standing moisture. Granted, there is no longer a porous surface to promote sucking up excess moisture but that is what deck sealers are designed to do. This moisture that gets absorbed and then evaporates is what causes wood to warp, check and cup.

but now I give you another closer pic, it is not allright, it is wrinkled like this 3 of those, before its nice color and hard leaves, this one hard but wrinkled and yellow. should i water it thoroughly?

Considering the time of year, your plant isn't looking bad at all. Mine looks a far sight worse (old lower leaves are dried up and gone) but then I haven't given it more than one or two sips of water since November. Our Michigan winter sun is too rare and dim to be of much use, and being by a window it can get quite chilly. So rather than risk root rot I go the arid route. I know it will recover without a problem.

Oh and they do indeed like lots of sun. Mine sits on my SE unshaded balcony all summer. That means it bakes in the sun from around 8am to around 2pm. Gets a lot more water then but definitely likes the intense sun.
