Disgusted and puzzled

I am both by my results in purchasing clematis in the last few years. I am not a clematis specialist or similar, so purchase them only when I have a specific spot and want a certain color, size, shape etc. I have only 7 clematis in my garden as follows. All the purchased oned were from respectable nurseries, not Walmart etc. and were gallon size plants, not 4" cuttings.

1. C versicolor from seed collected in wild and true to form

2. C. 'Betty Corning' From a friend, true to form

3. C. florida seiboldii "NOT" Actually a large flowered pinkish lavender

4. C. montana 'Rubens' "NOT" A 3-4" 4 petaled white

5. C. montana 'Rubens' "?" A tiny 1" 4 petaled pink

6. C. "Blue Belle" "NOT" A 2-3" 4 petaled dark red

7. C. "Ernest Markham" "?" 2 years and no bloom yet

As you can see of the 5 plants I have purchased from supposedly reliable sources, I am disappointed with all 5. I guess I'll have to plant new ones in temporary digs to see what they are at this rate or buy only plants in bloom.
