Abies koreana 'Kristalkugel'. A small dwarf, near miniature.

'Silberkugel'. Bought from Coenosium Gardens a year ago and already about 6-7 years old. Amazingly old stock and quite a value buy.

'Starker's Dwarf'. A very cool plant with dense, plump needles. In moderate shade, still looks great.

Will, your "false" 'Golden Glow' looks like a 'Prostrate Beauty' to me, but I'm not sure because some of your plants should be staked at a young age to give it their true habit...

Plant the "true" 'Golden Glow' at a sunny spot in your garden but avoid the hot afternoon sun.
If you do this you'll enjoy it's golden colour :0)

Please cut out that long scion at the 'Kohout's Icebreaker for creating a good shape.

Severnside, be aware that your 'Blue Emperor' isn't growing to long in moisty soil.
The thing here is that the soil texture you use is to small which will have less drainage and will have the effect like a sponge.
Make sure it will go dryer into winter time otherwise there's a very big change it will die because of root rot...
The best option here is to put it under a roof in Autumn...

Conifer, it was freshly planted so just watered. I'll see how it dries out and possibly add some grit if it looks like it holds water too long. Luckily we're in a dry sunny spell so it'll be safe for a few days to test. Thanks for watching out.

What do you use to ensure drainage?

Severnside, I use a good drainaged potting soil mix which is a mixture of different types of peat, added with pumice and clay.

Conifer, yes to the clay 60%, yes to the compost 30% (only basic peat compost for me so far though) and a 10% mix of sharp sand or concrete ballast (various size of aggregate) or grit sand as I find it. Pumice seems hard to find in the UK. Perlite seems to be suggested as an alternative. Better than grit?

Yes, "Starker's Dwarf" look to Abies nordmanniana.

Abies koreana 'Brevifolia' being encouraged to grow upwards. And yes Coniferjoy it does look identical to that "Sherwood Compact" I bought, time will tell.

Yep, generally. This is true of many conifers these days though of course the world-wide recession probably encourages buying small right now as well.
