Abies pinsapo 'Aurea'. A really nice gold, actually, with some burn only apparent before it established. Grows pretty well and this color is in part-shade.

Abies pinsapo 'WB#7' though it's noted Edwin says there is no such plant. Perhaps this is 'WB#1'... I yield to Edwin's guess. Whatever it is, it's TINY.

Sapsuckers ruined my Abies pinsapo, 'Glauca' to the point it wasn't worth keeping. It made decent firewood though.

Will, my german friend Guenther Eschrich found 4 Abies pinsapo var. marocana.
The variety name says that these were found in Marocco, wich is in Afrika indeed.
Your #1 is one of them but is renamed in 'Fatima'.

The others are:
#2 = 'Atlas'
#3 = 'Marokko'
#4 = 'Tuarek'

'Fatima', or I guess in this case, it is, or was 'WB#1'. Much larger is it then 'WB#7', could this be some other discovery? It might be one of the other three, but from the three I have planted, it is surely not 'Fatima' nor 'Tuarek'. I'd say it is 1/2 the size of these two, it is very very small.

I'm pretty sure that 'Atlas' and 'WB #7' may be the same plant. I have the two of them planted right next to each other and after 3 years in the ground, I don't see any difference. Time will tell.

I need to graft some of these. I don't have any pinsapo's. That 'Fastigiata' is really cool Edwin & 'Atlas' just blows me away every time I see it.

I had been corrected from 'Turek' to 'Tuarek' by some authoritative conifer connoisseur on here at an earlier date, so that's what I'm sticking with...

I think *maybe* we have corrected this mystery then. Especially with Dave's information.

We know, from Edwin that
#1 = 'Fatima'
#2 = 'Atlas'
#3 = 'Marokko'
#4 = 'Tuarek'

And that unless there is some other flukey 'WB#7' discovered, this plant doesn't exist. It also looks very similar to 'Atlas', is *not* 'Fatima'(#1) and not 'Tuarek'(#4). If you write the letter '2' it you're in a hurry or it's a little sloppy, the bottom slash could be misread or lost in translation and the number becomes '7'. Therefore, without suggesting 100% this is the answer, I am now fairly confident that this is the answer. Abies pinsapo 'WB#7' is actually Abies pinsapo 'WB#2' and thus Abies pinsapo 'Atlas'.

Abies pinsapo 'Kelleris'. No real info but at this point it seems slower growing. I've listed in my database that it is hardier then normal, perhaps the reason for it's selection.

'Horstmann'. As noted by Clement earlier I think, this plant eventually starts to put on some not-so-dwarf growth. Four years in the ground, Mine is now doing so and I may prune it out.

This species is quite intriguing, almost reptilian like.

Anyone come across any hardy cultivars for zone 5?

If you try any Will, try 'Kelleris'. Hard to find perhaps but noted for it's cold hardiness and a cool blue color, intermediate grower.

Abies pinsapo var. marocana 'Marokko'.

Showing some stress needle drop from the pot but hopefully it'll bounce back with new growth. Plenty of (typical for this cultivar) spikey white buds.
