Unless you are comfortable and have grown crassula before, I wouldn't buy a big plant. I can only offer an opinion based on my climate under my care. This plant does best in as much sun as possible. My largest one is in "almost" full sun. Sun from sunrise until very late afternoon. I also have summer temps that can go over 110 degrees. The more shade I give one, the more it is green and not yellow and red. It colors best in the winter right up against the plastic on the west wall of the greenhouse. Plants on the east side of the greenhouse don't look as nice. I experimented with a few indoors over the winter. The only one that held any color was one right against a south window that wasn't obstructed by things outside. Plants in the east windows were pretty much green. I would go easy on water and very easy on fertilizer. In my opinion most people over pot crassula and that is why they don't see blooms. randy

Hi! Thank you Gill and Andy. I had a b&q trip and made the mix you suggested Gill. The roots looked ok to me (white and dry) and they'd grown a lot since I last re-potted it - so I think that's positive. If it would be better out of the heat during our 'heat wave' (hottest day in 9years!? Apparently) I'll pop it in one of the other rooms for a while. I did read the link you sent Andy, very interesting and informative. I admit I never even thought about air availability in the soil! Bought a good quality potting mix instead of the cactus mix. Thanks again. I'll let you know if it's improved in a week or so! *fingers crossed*

Glad to see it survived the chop anyway despite now being green, maybe as mentioned, it will colour up later on. Must say it doesn't look that different to what it did before :-/ Did the drastic cut back give you your desired look, can't really see through the canopy to view the trunk.....what I'm trying to ascertain is....was it worth it in your opinion? Tip pinching us the best way to fill out a sparsely branched jade, especially a small one. .
