I've been checking my cuttings also. I have one that is making me nervous. I'll check it again tonite, see if it's still going south.

I'm so sorry you lost those 3 cuttings. That is really disappointing. I hope the person gets back to you.

My HG Double Orange cuttings are making me nervous, very pencil thin. Keeping a very close watch on those.

Gloria - are you going to try a tiny splash of peroxide, to see if that helps.

Can you save what is left of those cuttings and prop them up in there in a cup or something? See if you can save at least one?

Tried the peroxide when I put the cuttings in the bubbler. Even tried some vit B when they started looking wonky. All to no avail. These poor cuttings were either too young to leave momma or they were not robust to begin with. So far no response from vender. But I've just rec'd an invoice from them for another auction I won. Really hate to send in the payment on new cuttings without even a response to my request for replacement of the dead ones. Even worried about what these other cuttings will be like. May have to stop bidding on their stuff. Gloria

Sorry you missed out on the bidding. But there will be others coming your way. Sometimes the bidding on some of the things gets way out of hand. Got to keep yourself grounded. I'm learning this esp. for cuttings. Almost as much of a gamble for me as the tables at Las Vegas! lol.
No .. as of this a.m. have not gotten any response. Really disapponted because they seemed well up on things. I guess I'll have to send in the money for this win, and hope I get some lively cuttings. But may not bid their auctions anymore. Lost come cuttings last year from them and never complained or asked for replacement, but this time the cuttings rotted in less than 3 days! Hi Dweeb & Karen/greenpaw: Got response to my 2nd e-mail. Vender never said,"Sorry," but did promise to send replacement. Will let you know when I get them and how they look. Since vender seems to stand behind items and does have a long excellent reputation, I don't want to malign them, because sometimes things just go wrong... nobody's fault. So will adopt a "wait and see" position right now. But if it looks as tho vender is not reliable will certainly warn you. So far my other recently arrived cuttings are doing fine: Isignis Pink, Spring Peach, Susie Q, and of course this one literally has my name on it ... Gloria!! LOL The rooted plants are all still looking good. So maybe I'm on my way to becoming a "Brug Grower"! Gloria

Gloria - no, I didn't want you to name the vendor in the forum if you're still trying to resolve the situation. I'm more of a "endorse a great experience" kind of person.

I hope the vendor helps you out though. You didn't do anything wrong - same thing I'm doing here. I'll bet it's the same vendor.

I do have one that is getting "sketchy" but it's not rotten. It's like the green is pushing out and getting flakey, not mushy. So I'm waiting to see. One has put a 1" hair root out! I'm so excited.

My exterminator loved the bubbler and said his dad is into stuff like that. So, I'll share some with him if he wants. I said on another post - it feels so good to spread the addiction. (grin) Even the Exterminator wants to go buy a brug for his house. (grin)

The "painted lady" and "daydreams" just moved out of my reach. at 18.50 each on ebay.

They're in my pain threshhold. I just can't stomach that level with the S/H.

Ladies don't feel bad I just dropped $ 250.00 at the MG sale. 6' Plumeria's, Cassia Alta's, Canna's, Chalice vines, fire bush and a bunch of smaller local flowering plants. All these are tough as rocks. They did have some pink brugs 6' tall but I did not need anymore unknown pinks. All got quarantined and sprayed with the polymer. I need to order some more the nursery charges $22.95 a quart. Ouch.

Ladies ( and gents).... you should join one of the Brugmansia Societies. The price of membership is well worth it for what they offer and the contact with the members often leads to cuttings being offered for sale in the fall or for SASE. You would be more certain you were not being ripped off as to price or content.

Bought a Tiara and a versicolor peach. Lost on the Flamenco. (Rats, by 50 cents?!?!?) Now I'm annoyed.

I am going to stop bidding though. Losing on the Flamenco (orange and yellow) by 50 cents was enough to annoy me. And can't seem to get my hands on that beautiful Meloncholy Baby. I'll just wait until next year and buy one from a vendor.

Besides, my Anti Stress isn't here yet. And I'm going to have to start "whackin" very soon. I may even do some today. Couple of my mutt pinks.
(If the construction guys don't throw more stuff on top of them!)

Hi Dweeb: I'm with you. The bidding on the CUTTINGS not even plants is getting out of hand. I've been losing Daydreams, New Oleans Lady and a few others over and over again. Will stop bidding on cuttings for now. Esp. if I can't be sure the size of the cuttings. But I still feel unomfortable asking for cuttings when I have none to trade and can only offer postage. Hope my "little guys" grow enough to cut next year. How's your bubbler and cuttings going? Gloria

Bubbler izzzzzzz. . .bubbling! The cuttings are getting nubs, most have at least one little hair root. A couple are being cranky about rooting, but there are nubs there.

What is most amazing - even the ones without roots - they're putting on itsy bitsy leaves. Most have little "sprouts" of leaves on the top, maybe 4-5, some 7.

So even without the root system they're able to absorb through the stalk, etc. to sustain and put leaves on.

Karyn said not to take those off, so I'm leaving those. But they're even trying to put leaves on BELOW the water line. Those I pinch off and remove.

I'm waiting for the Anti-Stress so I can coat them. Trying to find some "B1" - not Miracle Gro transplant helper. That actually has a fertilizer in it and not sure that even a tiny splash of that is good for them.

Trying to keep in mind, this isn't to accelerate them, this is to maintain them so they're healthy for next year planting. The goal is NOT to push them - and I have to keep telling myself that.

My favorite B1 solution is B1 Thrive Alive. It's kind of like a combo of ST and B1. Plain B1 is also very good and much less expensive. I buy it at a local hydroponics store but I have bought stuff from this online retailer.

Dweeb: I can get the vit.b at WalMart. Small bottle and large jug. Can't recall exact price but VERY cheap. Jug was $4.00 or less. Gloria

Wow, Walmart has it? Now THAT'S great news. I was wondering why MGro seemed to have a lock on all the stores. Almost nothing else offered, I was getting annoyed with that.

Thanks Gloria. I'll look to Walmart - see if I can get mega amounts to stock here. Rather start using that stuff than have the multiple flavors of MG. I'm starting to look like a retail center for them. (grin)

I wish the Walmart's or even the HD's around here sold B1 and ST, or even an interesting plant. I have to buy everything online or at the hydroponics store and they are very overpriced.

Can't find anything but MG. . .for all I know, my Walmart may not have it. But it's worth checking. It sounds like you guys all use B1 and ST with great success. I have FEmulsion, and some Ironite, etc. I love the Osmocote shake and feed also.

But beyond that, there isn't much else offered.
