If you can't beat 'em, join 'em - hubby now has garden junk
Comments (17)Thanks, all, for your sweet comments. Vickie, no there are no lights in the globes. The blue one actually has a very large chunk of it missing - my poor hubby was trying to "fix it up" somehow one day (he didn't like the way the top was attached or something)... and dropped it. I almost cried, it was/is my favorite globe and so far has been one-of-a-kind - I've never seen another one like it! I now have a dark green one from my dad's estate waiting to go "into production" to join these others. By the way, Armored Guy actually replaces Connie the Conquistador - Connie was a plaster statue that I found dumped (along with that pedestal Mary's now using) in a Pizza Hut parking lot a few years ago. Conn did not make it through the flood, he completely fell apart. Here's his picture from an evening in 2004 - VERY 60's/70's, no? :)...See MoreDon't ya just love 'em?
Comments (1)Mostly the usual stuff for me. The hellebores are looking good, but I think it's about time to get out there and trim off the old ugly leaves and let the new growth come out. Of course anything everygreen; azaleas, rhodedendrons, ligularia, loropetalums, cast iron plants, etc... The one plant that's really catching my attention right now is the variegated alstroemeria. It pretty much disappeared during the summer, but is looking gorgeous right now. I think it may be time to divide it and have it in several different spots in the yard....See MoreYa know ya got a problem when................
Comments (31)When every other tree/plant in your little yard gets squished over to one side to make sure the plumerias have plenty of room to stretch out and sun. Bill, when you figure out how to get rid of your neighbor's tree (without getting busted) let me know. My neighbor has a huge ficus that is blocking the sun and dropping some real annoying seed things all over my yard. Vivian...See MoreHow do ya measure ‘em???
Comments (1)Mosquitoes, giant flies, humidity... Am I in Colorado or did I get deployed again and no one told me? I broke down and bought some slug bait, still seeing way too many of them but not near as big of an issue as it was before. Now its just the damn fle beetles that are turning my potatoes into lace. We had a mosquito at work the other day, could have measured it on a doggone scale! She must have weighed at least a pound and it looked like someone got shot after we smacked it! Humidity... You know, I can take heat. I shrug off 80 and barely flinch at 90 but throw in 30% humidity and I just melt. At least in a dry heat your sweat actually cools you off, when its muggy and sticky your just wet and sweltering. At least when I'm outside having a heat stroke it means the sun is out, an all too rare occasion these days... I have a word for this summer so far, but it's four letters and not to be used in polite company....See MoreClaire Pickett
