Brother in Laws Passing

I know several of you have been wondering where I've been. Tuesday a week ago tomorrow my baby sister lost her husband. He was only 53 years young. They had been having a regular morning and everything was fine. The the next minute he fell over dead from a massive heart attack.

Needless to say things have been kind of crazy for our entire family. Dear friends I would like to take this opportunity to remind you how short life really can be and not to take one minute for granted.

My sister and brother-in law were expecting their 1st grandchild in December. He was so excited about being a grandfather and how he was going to spoil the child rotten to the core. He was also planning a motorcylce trip to Arkansas next month with a large group of friends. Needless to say, none of his plans will come to fruitation. So if there is someone you need to make amends with, or just touch base with please do so. We never know how much time we have left. If there is anything you need to tell someone please by all means pick up the phone and make that call, send them a letter, or stop in for a visit. Today maybe some of our last days. Make the most out of each one you have left!

Please pray for my sister Billie Kay and her daughter Jamie and the rest of our family for the loss of our beloved James. He will be deeply missed.

What a tragedy, to leave his family at such a young age. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and yours.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts! Our modem on the computer wasn't working on Tuesday night. It started out fine but completely died around 8:00 p.m. I tried rebooting the computer and turning the DSL box off and on. Nothing worked. When I looked at the computer settings, the modem wasn't being recognized so I figured it croaked. I watched TV the rest of the night and sulked. The computer worked just fine for Bob later Tuesday night after I went to bed. On Wednesday, it worked just fine too. I was finally able to look at my Facebook page and saw a post from my brother with a link to the eulogy he wrote for Mary's memorial on Tuesday night! I totally missed her memorial/wake! I was so hurt that no one told me about it. Then I checked my cell phone and called my voicemail. My sister left a message on Monday telling me about the wake. I never saw anything on my cell phone saying I had a message. I am convinced that Mary was haunting me on Tuesday night and made the modem on my computer stop working. I think she was telling me she was a little upset that I didn't make her memorial and wasn't able to say my formal good-bye. I feel so hurt and upset that no one made sure I knew when it was! I check my email and Facebook every day so they could have contacted me that way. I feel so awful that I am embarrassed to go to Mary's daughter's wedding in a couple of weeks. They will think I'm an awful person for missing her memorial. I don't have any of their phone numbers or email addresses. *sigh* As if her death wasn't bad enough. At least I know she cares enough to haunt me.

Oakleyok, sorry to be so late in expressing my sympathy about your brother's loss. From personal experience, I know how painful the loss of a sibling can be. In my case, I never expected to be an only child. I'm sure you didn't, either. Time heals the pain, though it can never completely erase the sense of loss. Talk about him with people who knew and loved him and encourage others to do the same. Refer to him by his name rather than "he". I believe a part of those who have passed remains in this world as long as they are spoken of. It's when no one ever mentions their names that truly cease to exist.

Right now your BIL's food stamps are his "income" and it's fair that a portion of the value is provided for your "rent." Right now your BIL is costing you in such things as increased water usage, lights on in more rooms, etc. so there's more of a strain on your budget than just the groceries. Your husband is mistaken if he thinks his brother is a free addition to the household. It's unfortunate that you and your husband and BIL didn't have "the talk" before he moved in, but if you can get your husband on board (and he should be) you need to sit down with your BIL and tell him straight what your financial situation is and the drain some of his habits are putting on you. This is not a matter of hurting feelings. It's a matter of honesty and respecting him enough to make him an equal partner in your mutual well-being. Getting disability can take a long time so it's important to resolve this before you have a nervous breakdown or your own finances are seriously compromised.

So sorry to hear that Marian. I will say a prayer for all of you. I know that is the worst thing you can ever go through to lose a loved one. You are so right with that message. Hugs for all of you sent as well.

Dear Marian,

I am so sorry for your sister, niece and the entire family's loss. Praying that James peace will bring some comfort. Not only should one not hold grudges against loved ones, but also do not put off living life because there are no guarantees about the next hour or day.
