Over the years, I find keeping young cuttings and jades in a rich mix actually grows faster than the ones kept with fast draining mix. I do use the fast drain/dry medium for my bigger jades with thicker woody trunks. I think it might be the same reason why garden centers always used regular rich soil on their jades. You just need to be careful with watering since the rich soil holds more moisture. Have anyone come across a nursery grower or retailer using the fast draining medium which majority of our board members use and recommend? I haven't myself.

WOWOWOW. I knew I there was a reason that the hummel Jade is my favorite next to mine of course... I love it!!! Beautiful and BIG! Thank you for giving those of us hope who own nothing but a 5 inch Hummel, or smaller one, not to say a few leaves besides we are trying to root. I can only hope I am around long enough to see mine grow that big.. Mike

Glad to see it survived the chop anyway despite now being green, maybe as mentioned, it will colour up later on. Must say it doesn't look that different to what it did before :-/ Did the drastic cut back give you your desired look, can't really see through the canopy to view the trunk.....what I'm trying to ascertain is....was it worth it in your opinion? Tip pinching us the best way to fill out a sparsely branched jade, especially a small one. .
