What to do in September

I looked at Pat Welsh today, and as usual, I should have started things two months ago. Oh well. Here's an abbreviated list of things she recommends for Sept:

Transplant the biennials from seeds you started in July (ha). I guess I'm two months late.
Plant alstroemerias.
Buy spring bulbs.
Plant lily bulbs.
Plant cool-season flowers and sweet peas for Christmas bloom.
Start planting winter veggies (beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, carrots, cauliflower, celery, fava beans, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, spinach, chard, turnips and peas).
Plant and divide irises.
Feed fuchsias, tuberous begonias, ferns, container grown succulents, cyclamen, tropicals, cymbidiums, azaleas, Christmas cacti, roses, and warm season lawns. Some of these things are supposed to be getting their last fertilizer of the season.

I probably won't get around to fertilizing, since I'm lazy and cheap, but I'll do irises, start the biennials late, and start lettuce, spinach, and radishes next week. What are you doing this September?
