Well, we are almost at the end of September, the temps moderated giving us a nice couple of days.The rain held off but not for long as we are suppose to get a storm later today.

MADONNA ARESENAULT - rebloom. Not too bad but I will cut the scape. Registered as a MLa and the scape is right on target at 24 inches.

EMPEROR'S CHOICE - rebloom. Way down in the foliage and the sepals are waving LOL

AUTUMN WOOD - finally done...I think.

OTTIS MAGIC - rebloom. Doesn't want to give up this year.

KIOWA SUNSET - almost finished.

UNK X UNK YEAR 3 - nice tall scape. Nothing special on the bloom face but I still like it.

HEAVENLY PINK BUTTERFLY X KERMIT'S SCREAM - 8 month old seedling. Scape is about 20 inches so next year I'm sure it will get taller. Not a bad opening.This is one of several I've planted in pots (crowded) and have them sitting on the back patio. Won't be able to plant them till next spring so I have to winter them over this way. I hate to do that but no other alternative.

So nice to see DLs blooming STILL! I really like Kiowa Sunset. I think it's her veining! :)

Amazing to have daylilies blooming this late in the year and so many reblooms at that. I do really like them all but my very favorite is AUTUMN WOOD.

everything looks so great!! at first i thought your camera was off when ya took a pic of you poppie, then all of them are that way, i've never been a poppie fan till talla, same thing with petunia's and morning glories, ahhhhh kids!! boy they do make ya change your mind about plant, i now also like daisy's galardia, well all of them types of things, it turns out they actually do have something to them!!! LOL WHO the heck knew?? besides tabor?? the boy had to point it out to me!! LOL Vera, your gardens are just wonderful!! i'm simply amazed!! ps i thought the slugs had gotten to my plants, it seems i had an over eager boy with a weedeater!! ERRRRR!!! i calmly took it away and now i use it, since he likes it so much!! and i use the guard!! HA!! LOL ~Medo

I think it's almost time to start the second half of this thread. The first part is getting quite long!!! I have a few more blooming for the first time this year. This first one is H. davidcummingii. I got this hoya on one of the very first orders to David Liddle that I ever participated in. It rooted quickly and grew very (6" basket ,plant was over 3ft long) well then went into a major decline and i'm not sure why. Over the years I have had to restart it a number of times. Each time it would root well,grow well for a while then start going downhill. Finally last year I decided I would try growing it in a pot full of straight hydroton and so far so good!!! As long as it continues to grow like it's currently doing i'll keep it in my collection. But if it starts to decline again I won't give it another chance!! This is a first time bloomer and it's not quite a year old now. I still have the original D.L. invoice from October of last year when I received it.It's H. Estrella Waterfall IML 1256. The description in the Liddle's catalog describes the flower color as being yellow. As you can see from the pictures it has bloomed a very nice deep shade of apple green for me. I think I may have found a new favorite flower to add to my top 10 list of favorite hoya flowers!!! The flowers have a scent similar to those of finlaysonii and incrassata, a little sweet and spicy!!!

I'm finally downloading the photos from my camera from the past few weeks. But here is what is blooming lately. Yes - it is October 1st, but these were photos I took in the past 2 - 3 weeks. A gerbera daisy - I bought this plant 2 years ago - and it keeps coming back in the pot. Had I known this "tender annual" would survive, I would have chosen a different color! Self Sown Carpet of Snow Alyssum A baby fever few plant I transplanted back in May has now grown and bloomed. The morning glories vines have bloomed profusely over the brush pile. Star of Yelta and Crimson Rambler. I keep Galdiolas in pots on my patio. This year I added some peacock orchids. Both were a total bust - except for this lone peacock orchid that bloomed this past week. It was a surprise to find this toad lily in bloom. It is so near the ground, and the foliage has been eaten by something hungry. And lastly - some type of wild aster growing on the back side of the pond. One of the good things about being behind on weeding - you can find some pretty weeds!

We had a lot of rain in the area over the weekend but it skipped over our house. My yard is really starting to dry up. I've been watering quite a bit. I HOPE that doesn't encourage mosquitoes Proudgm. I think they would need water that stands for a few days to breed in and my puddles dry up pretty quickly. Spray your hubby with the hose if he says that again. lol Oakleaf - I saw LOTS of Black Swallowtails last year and the year before but they've been very scarce this year for some reason. I have bronze fennel and rue planted for them for host plants but have only seen a couple caterpillars that I think got eaten before they could finish. : ( I also haven't seen very many Buckeye butterflies this year which are usually very common. I've seen more yellow Tiger Swallowtails this year though. Those are so pretty. I was pulling weeds this week and found my Chinese Astilbe that I thought died the year before last. What a nice surprise. It's very small though and needs to be moved to another spot. I also found a little sprig of epimedium that I thought was toast after the late freeze. It sure took a long time to come up again. Kaye - Hope you're enjoying your retirement. Some people don't get started on gardening until after they retire. You've got a nice head start.

I don't know-your lt pink seedling has a pretty, ruffly gold edge. Works for me :) AND blooms late. My seedlings seem to all be EM to M, need to work on that.

It was nice to open this up and see more daylilies blooming- and very pretty! I like Madonna Arsenault's colors and triangular shape, and your pink seedling has a lovely edge! :)

I think sometimes as the seedlings get older, they will rebloom or bloom later. Maturity does that I guess. I have 1 more seedling that has been here 3 years and it also has been reblooming. I just haven't gotten a pic...timing is everything LOL.

I'm sure the days are numbered as to what will continue blooming. BUDDING ELEGANCE has 3 scapes up, 1 which is quite tall, but I doubt I'll see the rebloom.

MADONNA ARESENAULT has a pretty combination of colors on it. You've got a pretty good amount of bloom still going on for so late in the season.

Pretty blooms! My favorite is that first seedling of yours. I like the soft bitone coloring, the roundness of the bloom, and the gently ruffled edge.

My favorite is 'Emperor's Choice'. I love that sunshine-y yellow and the wavy petals & sepals. It has a different look about it that appeals to me.
They are all pretty...and I enjoy all blooms right now!

It's been too long since I've seen a bloom here and yours are so nice. I really like the "corduroy" look that is on some of the daylilies flower petals and that combined with the the colors of Autumn Wood and Kiowa Sunset make them my favorite of this batch.......Maryl

Julia, I like MADONNA ARESENAULT best. However, I like both your seedling. The first one is PINK which is my fav color. The second is the form I like best ( today). My fav form changes from one day to the next. Nice photo's....Ellie

My error as I misspelled MADONNA ARSENAULT in my original post. Glad you all enjoyed the photos. Blooms at this time of year are hard to come by.
I've been busy organizing the photos to go into the PlantStep software.
Time to catch up on the forums.
