Relocating a native yucca plant

DebbyO

My friend who has a large plot of rural property, found a huge patch of yucca plants recently. She decided to dig a few up and attempt to relocate them at her property in the city. She gave me one as well.

I planted mine already, but was wondering about the success I might have in growing an already established yucca. It seems that it did have some huge tap roots that were obviously cut in the process of digging it up. Will it recover and grow new roots even though the original tap root has been cut/damaged? How much do I water it at first,... and should I incorporate any plant food as well? The area I planted it in should be sufficient as far as drainage goes,...

All I can do is hope for the the best!

If anyone has any tips or info on the matter - I sure would like to hear from you.

Thanks and Sincerely,

Deb
