Annuals for summer?

I planted pansies and snapdragons last winter to spruce up our tenant's front door walkway and wondering if it's almost time to pull them out. They're looking ragged but I don't have much experience with annuals - I'm using mostly natives to do the perma-landscaping, but that is slow work and I wanted to cheer up the front of their house in the meantime. I also planted a whole bed of California wildflowers which have mostly gone to seed, with a few Clarkia Amoena still in bloom.

What annuals do you all recommend to edge a walkway for the upcoming season? I was also considering cosmos to replace the wildflowers?

The bed on the right of the walkway has 8 ancient rosebushes in it also, and on the left there is a big Queen palm surrounded by quite a bit of bare dirt. There is also a giant cactus, tea tree and the blooms falling from the neighbors Jacaronda. In other words, eclectic (California-style) is our middle name around here!
