Morcom is the only place I've noticed something Kim Rupert has mentioned: grafted tree roses that are truly trees. I forget what the root stock is, but the scion (Renae, I think?) is grafted atop a trunk that is maybe 9' tall and cascades down like a fountain. There is a row of them along the southern walk leading into the flat garden. One has died this year, I see, and another is new (so someone still produces these?), and the rest looked fine when I saw them, though not in bloom. Debbie

There's nothing quite as cool-looking(temperaturewise) as BLUE flowers. I grew Phacelia a few years ago, best blue i ever saw, next to cornflowers. The bell-shaped blue flowers with icy-white anthers were beautiful, and stirred up images of cooler weather. They do have a short bloom time, hot weather just about stops the show, cutting back helps somewhat. Give 'em a try, i believe there are 2 or 3 varieties. Good luck, and enjoy.

Hi rsmechanical - I have gotten three bids from Lennox dealers - 2 quoted me for a 5 ton system, 1 for a 4 ton. All have given me quotes for similar equipment, but I'm getting differing statements from them on whether or not the air handlers matched with the XP17 unit qualify for the federal rebate (we absolutely need that $! - trying to decipher whether or not the xp17 qualifies with the CBX40UHV air handler, or just with the CBX32MV?) Now, we've asked for a Rheem dealer to come out -- I just can't see how the ductwork/labor can cost as much as it is -and I got the feeling from responses on this board that it was high at $15K for equipment and labor. Ductwork will need to be done for the whole home -- we have extensive crawlspace (walking height), and lots of closets stacked one on top of the other to run ductwork for the bedrooms (4). So really, while we have to retrofit the home, it's not a really difficult installation situation. We also have a utility closet inside our home (old laundry closet - we've moved the laundry) that is centrally located and will house the air handler - making the running of the ductwork very extreme. I hope I answered your questions. I really just want to make sure we're not being taken with a quote, since we're feeling the time crunch to sneak in under the rebates. Ugh.

Well I'm NOT a blue person. Indoors I have NO blue. My husband doesn't understand this. I have no idea why I feel this way. Outdoors things are different! I have a blue/yellow/white garden bed which I love. Yes, delphineums, catananche, campanulas, baptisia and more, are mixed with trollius, coreopsis moonbeam, peony Claire de Lune and low growing white clematis and aquilegia. It is a big mix and wouldn't be any fun at all without the blue! There are loads of clematis that are purple or blue/purple, but also some very nice blues I think. You do get into the question of "what is blue?" My husband and I think this could well be a male/female issue! "Victoria Blue" Salvia is the closest thing. I use it a lot. It is such a heavy, long bloomer, and about one in twenty of them will survive winter here. Just wish I could predict which would survive so that I could save seed from those alone and perhaps work up a more hardy strain. By the way, the Hydrangeas in Memphis, Tennessee are incredible. Someone mentioned black flowers, and I remembered seeing black pansies in the most recent Burpee catalog. They're a beautiful velvety black with a spot of yellow in the center. I just like the uniqueness of the TRUE blue and my stubbornness to get people to stop calling it purple!!!!
