University of California Master Gardeners Program
Comments (3)For most programs you need to apply in Oct or Nov. The interviews with applicants was held and classes start next week for 8 weeks. It is required that the class room time be given back in various volunteer venues. It's a wonderful program if you are passionate about various gardening methods and resources. I've been an MG since 1997 and have not stopped learning new things. Penny...See MoreLack of T.V. Garden Programs
Comments (8)I have found that not only is there a lack of TV gardening programs, but also a big void finding public gardening information in my county (Henderson County.) Yes, I know the County Extension Services have the information, but why not run something timely in the local papers once a week? Isn't the idea to PROMOTE this knowledge to the public? I know there are a lot of new people in the area and they are chasing all over looking for information (myself included) I just did a search for the Arboretum in Asheville on the GW and came up with nothing!! What??? I have lived in many other states and have always been able to sign up for local county newsletters, but to my knowledge, I cannot do this here in North Carolina. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places? If anyone can find a newsletter (monthly, weekly, or seasonally) for Henderson County I would love to know about it. I know the knowledge is "out there", but I seem to be having a problem find out where "out there" is exactly. I have lived here for a year and am making very slow progress finding information that I need without driving all over the place to get it. Is there any kind of regular newsletter in a local paper or from a good source that I can learn from? If so - I sure would like to know about it. Thanks for any and all help that you may be able to offer to me. I would appreciate it very much....See MoreWKZE Garden Show podcasts
Comments (1)Thanks for the link! I don't listen to much radio, too many commercials now a days. I listen to Ralph Snodsmith on 710 WOR on Sunday mornings....See MoreGardening/Outdoor Living Radio Show
Comments (9)Oh geez. I was excited about this post, until you busted 'em. I listen to a lot of podcasts while I drive, and I'm always on the lookout for a new garden podcast to try out. Garden podcasts tend to be so localized due to weather and plants. Does anyone have a gardening podcast you like? At the moment I am addicted to Gardener's Question Time by the BBC. Its free and you can get it on iTunes. Despite the difference in climates between Britain and Texas, I hear about plants that we have here, and plants we could have here. Last week's episode discussed the Lenten rose for dry, shady areas of a flower border. I had several of those when I lived in Richardson, and I'm now on the lookout for them in Austin. Or maybe I'll just buy more the next time I'm in the DFW metroplex! At any rate, if anyone has any garden podcasts you like, I'd love to hear about it! Thanks, Heather...See Morepeggiewho
