1) What is the first thing you'd do or buy for your home . . . or would you sell it and buy another? If so, where? DH and kids would never want to move. But if they were agreeable, I'd move to a house in our neighborhood that had larger bedrooms, a real guest room, a larger living room, a real home office, and a really nice finished basement with real windows and a door to the back yard. And a screen porch overlooking a not-too-big, but bigger-than-ours back yard. 2) What is the first thing you'd do or buy for your spouse or SO? I know that many of us have kids, but to keep this game reasonably short, let's not go there now . . . so just your spouse/SO: A new BMW. 3) What the FIRST foreign country you'd plan a trip to . . . and do NOT tell us "around the world!" (LOL) . . . let this be a more specific answer: Does St. Bart's count as a foreign country? 4) What first charity would you donate a significant amount of money to, or start one of your own for what cause? This is too hard! I'd have to split over several. 5) What is the FIRST big thing you'd do for YOU? Hire a housecleaner once a week and a chef to make dinner every night! 6) OK, are you still following the rules ;^D ?? I know there would be many other purchases and trips, and we'd all save a big chunk of the money, too, but what ONE other thing would you spend some that money on? My 3 kids' college tuitions. Just starting on DS #1 this fall! Can't imagine what it will cost when we get to DD, who is still only 9.

Very pretty Glenda.I use to have a server that looked like that.The doors on front opened and a table top unfolded that would seat from 4 to 8 and you could store folding chairs inside.I loved that thing.I wish I had never gotten rid of it.That drop leaf will come in handy with the little ones.

Sonicmom - The chairs feel like they did before they were painted. If you want smooth, start with a smooth chair (sanded if necessary) and apply maybe three thin coats of paint. If you want to decoupage, there will be raised areas and how raised depends on the thickness of your cutouts. If they're wallpaper they will be a little thicker but if they're tissue paper or napkins they will be thinner. CEFreeman, I have three terracotta pots I fill in the summer and keep in the garage in the winter. I did latex and spar varnish inside and out and they've lasted for years. The decorations on them I used acrylic craft paints. These were something I just threw together fast just to get some color on my porch steps. I'm thinking these would be a great Girl Scouts project for Mother's Day! The checks were done with a flat brush and the dots were done with a q-tip. I quit using the saucers because when it rained or I sprinkled they held water and were drowning the plants. Then I have two matching ones I painted the same and I think I did not coat the insides all the way -- trying to remember. They stay out all the time. They got wet and then froze, then thawed, then started to disintegrate. :( I need to replace them now but they each have plants in them and they're not small pots. The other mistake I made was hand painting a small detailed design on them. You can't see it from the street. Duh me. Anyone know what I should replace them with? I'm thinking plastic is what will endure the weather. Does this cracking up happen to all terracotta pots? I love that your creativity is going. Be sure to post pictures! thanks so much for getting that posted, e, i really appreaciate it. now, thanks for those questions, they'll help enormousely when i go back to my kd. i'll try my best to answer them all for you. ok, the room will be 17'6" x28'---up to 34' if we need the extra length. the wall with the sinks face the water, so no upper cabs, while the fridge wall faces the road and second floor overhang. we are keeping that walkway for a wheelchair entrance, as it is well suited there, and we may need it someday. the first floor of the house is already all ada ready, this entry completes that. dw goes to the right of the sink closest to the pantry. that will be the dish sink, as it will be closest to the dish pantry and the large table in the room.(besides, we only use it once or twice a year--but it seems to be required if we ever sell). microwave on counter between fridge and antique icebox, (which measures 56"x33"). that icebox will hold the larger pots and pans, they are now in another room, since our current kitchen has no space for them, dh is in the habit of collecting everything he needs to cook before commencing chopping. pantry is larger (deeper) than inspiration pic --will also have base drawers and counter, with open shelves to the ceiling for open dish storage and accessability. we now have the dishes stored on an open shelf in the kitchen (no cabs) so this works for us already. dh is retired, a former restaurant /bar owner and he cooks for fun. we are a family of four (we have two young people living with us--a young man who is challenged and our assistant--they eat with us as well), with several large family gatherings a year. he holds court in the kitchen!! he is a baker, italien chef, experimenter, etc. he spends most of his day in the kitchen,lol. the closet is my way of getting more storage into this farmhouse. we have none on the first floor, so i will keep all of the extra flotsam in there. dog food, leashes, cat food, etc. dh will have his spice cab to the left of the range, in an 18" upper cab between the range and the main kitchen door. the door to the outside fron the pantry side goes to the new terraced back yard and down to the water. whew, what did i forget? i am concerned about having storage space, even with the pantry and closet, due to the sink wall being all base units. but the antique ice box has tone of storage as well. plus i think i can get a floor to ceiling storage for food on that wall--kd is working on it. thanks, keep it coming!! oops, this sentance got left out of above, and my pasting skills are very marginal... sink closest to the corner will be dh's commercial sink, which he had fabricated many years ago and loves. he wants it closer to his stove, for prep and pots. (i'm the one who sets and clears the table, so my sink and the dish pantry are out of his prep and pot washing station).
