Here's some cheer from Central California for you all :)

A couple of mixed shots, Aloe Striata and Moroccan Daisy

Blooms off the Emu Bush, Aloe Microstigma & Aeonium

Aloe Arborescens, New Zealand Tea Tree (Leptospermum), and an unknown succulent. Does anyone know what this succulent is?

Grape Muscari, A Sedum Praealtum Bloom spike, Aloe Hardyi and a volunteer African Daisy (Osteospermum)

Crassula 'Campfire', Euphorbia Characias (I get seedlings of this one sprouting up all the time), Gazania, and a volunteer Euphorbia Characias (one of many!)

Unknown Salvia (It's common around here but I can't remember the name), Red Salvia Greggii (Also the Aloe Grandidentata are sending up bloom spikes), A shot of a the succulent garden, and a volunteer petunia that has been blooming all winter long.

Lastly, this is chinese Fringe flower, and a shot of my finally-cleaned side yard. This is where I can go out and have a morning cup of coffee hehe

I forgot to add these!

A hedge of Lavandula Stoechas is just starting to come into bloom. Bonus points if you can spot the Clivia Miniata in the background, also coming into bloom.

And these are a few of the blooms on my meyer lemon tree. Their fragrance is intoxicating in the afternoons.

Lovely garden, you must have lots of fun. Iceplant - wonder if its the Cephalophyllum 'red spike'??

NBJ reminds me of Bouganvilla - it thrives on neglect . Those cut back take longer to bloom than those left alone . My original plant was cut to almost nothing and is returning with beautiful growth - no flowers yet . Cuttings that are several years old and received no trimming have buds but no open blooms - yet . You may be just far enough north of us that it might take a week or two longer for your plant to set buds . NBJ seem to like plenty of sun and to be in the ground . Cuttings practically root before your eyes . My best performing NBJ is directly under a strong security light that runs all night long . I think that no matter how much or how little you do for this plant , it will survive and do just fine . I recommend planting it in the ground . Then start cuttings and put those in the ground in different places under different conditions . That experiment will tell you more about your own garden and plants than we ever could .

I agree Big Purple is not always purple. In fact it is only purple in cool weather. When it's warm it's magenta and when its hot its pink/red. I like all the colour variations though. Ebb Tide does the same thing with me. Pink in summer and Purple in Winter. Diane, yes my Big Purple is on fort. It is not as vigorous as some other roses on fort such as Sonia Rykiel, Granada, PAOK, PJP II, Memorial Day or Firefighter. It repeats reasonably well though, just not huge flushes like those you see on the above mentioned varieties because the plant seems to take time to build up its size. It could also be that my Big Purple is planted near a tree and root competition and dry soil may be contributing factors. This is Big Purple in cold weather - a true purple.

I grew this plant years ago, it is a good-looking foliage plant for most of the season, and then bloomed beautifully in late fall when nothing else was blooming - one year I had blooms close to Thanksgiving time! It seemed to do better at my other house than this house, though, so I took it out and haven't grown it in years. If you see it for sale, definitely buy it, I consider it a winner. :0)

Wow, those are all so pretty, Julie. Ian Minuet is especially striking and that Blue Mist is a color I would love to have! I think I have the same Optimara and mine seems to be in constant bloom.

Gosh, you have a wonderful garden! It looks like you have been working on it for quite a while. I like how you used those cement garden edgers to make a flower pattern, and your succulent wall hanging is great. No garden would be complete without a dog in the petunias. I would have never guessed that Euphorbia Characias was a succulent. It is lovely. Well, I have a small Cephalophyllum alstonii too so it is nice to see what it will look like as it ages!

Penny, I may have improperly ID'd that plant for you. A search for C. alstonii yields mixed results but a search for 'red spike' shows our plant every time. I want to give it a real name but I hate to jump to conclusions.

Maybe not, Ryan. Apparently there are a couple of them labeled Red Spike. One looking just like the photo above and just like the one I have. They blossom in February and mine just did and the blossom looked right. Another looks a lot different. I think Marie ID'ed mine a while back so the both of you are probably correct! GW is blocking the link I wanted to send, but it had photos of both the plant I have and the other one that is labeled the same, but somewhat different...same flower, stems not upright.
