What's the best way to keep my young mango tree warm?

I have a 4 foot tall manilla mango tree that I planted in July of 2008. I live in Escondido California and the night's are starting to get really cool. I ordered a frost blanket on line and was wondering what kind of Christmas lights to use to keep the tree warm. Would the rope lights work by wraping it around the trunk of the tree. Or would the c7 outside lights for the house be better. I know I read somewhere that the LED lights don't give off as much heat. The light's I'm looking at say their 125 volts and 7 watts. Do you thinks these would work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Alicia
