Guess I forgot to pay my dues...

Don't know, but I have not been able to post on the forum for almost a month. Let me in briefly once or twice is all, long enough to make one or two posts. The rest of the time I guess my input was not wanted. Other folks have been posting, I couldn't open and read them, but saw their new threads and replies were being made to them. So I know the forum has not been completely dead for everyone despite the red notices it was having problems lately. Now suddenly today its like all is fine again. Did nothing on my end to make it work again.

So admin, how much is the dues and where do I mail them?

hey Larry,
I had to delete all of my saved temporary internet files, cache and cookies to get it working. Those tips were probably posted while you couldn't get in! If you need help deleting everything, let me know what browser you are using.

Larry, after Spike sold the Garden Web, they discontinued dues. I wasn't able to view threads (or post on them) yesterday, but everything is okay today. It must be something else with your computer if you couldn't use this forum for a month.

Annie, I took all the oils and the penzey's spices on vacation and they were great. We have been on a bit of a from scratch pasta sauce kick and the basil oil meant we never had to buy fresh basil for just a tiny amount. I have also been quickly depleting the garlic oil, so good over broccoli with butter and a splash of soy sauce. I used the lemon oil in Tomato Basil butter the other day and it was a real time saver. I think I will be ordering oils soon :-) Although I did find the garlic oil in Trader Joe's on the cape. I look forward to the champagne vinegar as well, this whole package is so wonderful. I even found a source for unripe apples next year so I can try a greater selection of the recipes from my new cookbook. Good friends who are always happy to eat my jam have an apple tree on their property. Ann, you are right the box was huge, I used it to send out my swap package. So my swap partner will be receiving a well traveled box. -Robin

Thanks NC and thanks for your quick reply to my initial question. It was so logical but I had no idea how FSBO worked. We are under contract to buy the FSBO. I am so excited and am crossing my fingers that inspection and appraisal go well. We ended up offering above their asking price in order to pay our realtor her commission. We agreed on us paying the commission, sellers paying half of our closing cost, and sellers leaving their washer and dryer for us. I feel that even with adding in the commission we still got a great deal on the house. When they had it listed with a realtor in the past it was listed for about $10k more than what we are paying for it and I am happy with what we are getting for our money. We are getting a finished house with great private outdoor space and a heated 3-car garage and I can't wait. I live next door to my in-laws right now and need a little more peace and privacy in my life! I also can't wait to have a garage. We have rough winters and have not had a garage for 10 years. No more scraping windshields in the morning before work. Wooohooo! Thanks again for all of the great advice on this board. I got a lot of helpful advice on this site a few months ago about finding a better realtor after our last one slacked off a lot and I'm glad I took that advice to heart too!

I agree with Cabot & Rowe. What is the point of a vapor barrier behind the tub. The tub itself is a vapor barrier. Which is pretty much proved by the fact it holds water -- try it yourself and see if I'm not right. (If it does not hold water, you have a more serious problem.) A second barrier behind the tub just traps any minor leaks under the tub and absolutely guarantees mold and mildew. What no-brain wrote your town's building code? I would patiently explain to the inspector, and if no him/her, then his/her superior why this is a very bad idea.

OP, I am so sorry you're going through this! For anyone who's been thinking of getting the vaccine, this is your wake-up call! Go now. Get it done! I had the shot last summer, and I'll tell you a few things about it -- things I didn't know -- I'm assuming my experience was typical, which may or may not be true: - My doctor does not keep the vaccine in stock. Apparently relatively few people get the vaccine, and it's somewhat in short supply. When I requested the shot, my doctor "ordered it to my pharmacy". He told me to wait a couple days before I called the pharmacy to see if it was available. - I had the first shot, which I think cost a $49 co-pay -- a whole lot better than some of you paid! Wow, the costs! And the pharmacist put the remaining dose into her fridge /labeled with my name. - If memory serves, I had to go back no earlier than 2 months /no more than 4 months later. Again, I paid a $49 co-pay. Most of all, I walked away thinking to myself, "One thing I can cross off my list of concerns" and feeling very pleased. Someone asked whether you can have another shot later. I know the answer: yes. My mother had the older single-shot vaccine, and she recently took the newer two-shot vaccine. Her doc said that the newer vaccine is superior, and it won't hurt you to have both.

...and some forums worked fine during the recent red notice era (nwest, fruit, etc.) The failures were not targeting all members named Larry!

The main membership fees forum is at Dave's Garden.

Sometimes there are member comments on gardenWeb server problems and individual computer/browser quirks posted on the comphelp (Computer Help) gardenWeb forum.

Original post was to let folks know why I hadn't been on the forum, and was made tongue in cheek. Maybe I should have added a "LOL" to it. Thanks for all the comments though.

My son and I did all the drills to no avail, but it did prove the problem with this site was not with my computer. Can't say that with as much certainty about my service provider or Garden Web though.

Thanks for the tip Larry, but when you can't get past any forum's index of threads (ie, open any of the threads themselves), any comments posted in those thread's are not accessable by you.

I've had some problems lately too. Sometimes I can get on and other times I can't. I know it's not my computer, so I just attribute it to the forum.

It's good to see you post, though.

Glad to hear from you. I've been having some trouble too. I get an error if I search and then try to open a page. It hasn't done it today yet so maybe they've got it fixed now.

I had to start using Firefox as a browser because I had similar issues (and still do) with Internet Explorer. I got very frustrated and started looking for forums outside of the GardenWeb. There have been several times in the past 6 weeks or so that I couldn't even get here with Firefox. That's how I discovered that deleting files and stored passwords would work for me.

Sandy/Christie - It's good to be back. Need my fix and this is where I prefer to get it.

Sherry - Yep, we're getting old girl. :( Sometimes I think all I have to look forward to is senility. Wait, I'm already there. :)

Pam - My computer experience is very long, so deleting temp files, cookies, passwords, etc is a common first step I take when there is problems. Did no good, nor going much deeper this time. IE does have its compatability problems no doubt as the forgotten browser, but it is what I use and at this late date this old dog is not going to change browsers. If GW doesn't want to run in IE, I'll do without GW, simple as that.

Guess I forgot to pay my dues...
