Can someone please help me ID my new succulents?
Comments (7)Your Hens and chicks looks like Sempervivum 'Red Beauty'. Just in case you don't know, most Sempervivums need to be out in the cold in the winter so it doesn't make a great houseplant. A better garden plant for sure. i can't identify the so called zygo cactus from your picture. Maybe a closer shot? The third picture looks to be a sedum of some sort. These all look to be succulents, not cactus, to me. One last thing, most succulents are poisonous to cats so I don't recommend you let your cat eat any of them....See MoreHelp ID my baby succulents, grown from cuttings
Comments (9)I use chicken grit that is granite chips (the colored grit is some decorative stones that were mixed in). I use mix of grit and perlite and some turface for all my succulents. Aquarium pebbles are usually bigger, much smoother (maybe that decorative grit is aquarium gravel? - not sure) and often colored. Here is photo of chicken grit: Some plants will root faster than others. So it also depends on which leaves you are propagating. I have done it on top of mix of perlite and some C&S soil too, but usually do not bother setting it up like that any more: Here are the same leaves I showed on April 9, that were on a black plastic cover, (I put them on a terracotta saucer) plantlets are bigger now (I didn't do anything with them, didn't water):If I wanted to keep growing them (not sure if I will - have plenty of plants, haha), I would probably put them on top of the mix and sprinkle little of it on top of the roots . It could be also just perlite or pumice if you have some. Or any mix you are using, juts put very light cover....See MoreHelp with My Succulents ASAP Super Grateful for you guys and my plants
Comments (4)What you are referring to as a 'ghost' plant is in glass jar, that's why it is loosing leaves - water has no way to drain out a plant may be rotting (can't tell for sure from small photo). Cactus and succulent mix is not fast draining, you need to add lots of coarse perlite to it. You could plant them is same pot if you don't have pot for each of them, but you really need very well draining mix. That container is nice, but quite large. Succulents like lots of sun, 4-6 hrs in the morning may not be enough....See MoreNeed help with my Succulent
Comments (6)It should be in a pot with drainage hole, rocks at the bottom are not really good (only for very short period of time) It could be Aloe juvenna, and red color is likely from some stress. Interesting that one stem looks ok, rest of them are looking thirsty. Leaves on most stems are not plump - they are curling since plant needs some water. Also, they should be closer together - at least as close as that 1 green stem. That is usually sign of inadequate light. But do not water unless you repot it into pot with drainage hole. Potting mix should have at least lots of sifted perlite in it - 1:1 ratio is often recommended; not just straight soil. BTW, it doesn't need to be repoted ..."due to its size"... Plant has plenty of room in that size of pot - but not drainage...(sorry for repeating myself)....See Moreken_ny
