Pls ID this plant & Haworthia is dying - Pics Att'd

Could someone pls help me ID the below plant? I just got it from Ikea yesterday but no name on the label.

And also, it looks like my Haworthia is dying. i bought it about 7 months ago when it was winter in australia. Is it still possible to save it??? i really feel sorry for it.

I've been reading this wonderful forum for several months, and I really want to share my succulents with you guys:

hopefully I will have luck with this little streptocarpus which was bought three weeks ago. This is currently sitting on my windowsill and it receives direct morning sun only. is this okay? or should i move it to my little back yard which receives direct sun shine between 4-5?

that first plant is: Portulacaria afra (common name Elephant Bush, though it has many other names)

it's a great plant to add to your collection. fairly hardy and grows fast. more info:

and regarding your Haworthia attenuata, i would wait for the roots to dry and place the plant in pure pumice or perlite. wait for about 3 weeks and start watering it every other week. keep it in the shade but not somewhere wet. hopefully it'll root. but other more experienced people on here will give you better advice.

Thank you very much Hadrian! I will need to get some pertile tomorrow and let's see whether the poor Haworthia will recover or not. I watered it too much during winter...

and thanks for ID this plant for me, i will do some more researches on it ^0^.

Rot. Emergency. Nurse, scalpel! Chop off healthy pieces of stem, they will root quickly and by this time next year you should have half a dozen plants just like this one. Only they'll be alive ;) For future reference, these need very little water in winter, none might be safer. The leaves on your plant are fat and happy to the point they might burst, nice and pretty, but I'd let it look visibly thirsty before watering when the sun is weak and temperatures are not so hot. You could also try a potting soil which is half grit or perlite instead of the rather peaty looking mix I see which will go very soggy.

I agree with the other post that unless the entire bed was amended, you have probably created a bowl of amended soil where you planted the maple. If the soil is wet, then it's most likely receiving too much water. In very warm weather coral barks tend to suffer from leaftip burn. I just made the mistake of moving one from a regular mostly shade to 1/2 sun and the poor plant suffered terribly. I moved it back and it's doing better. I have a similar soil situation in my backyard. I just imported around 4 cu. yards of soil to create a berm and avoid trapping water. I also amended the clay soil before adding the berm. If your soil test only contained soil from the amended portion of your soil it may not reflect whether adjacent soil to too clayey and trapping water. From my visit a month ago to NC, I can tell you I've never seen more healthier fast-growing maples than lovely NC. If it weren't for the humidity, I'd be your neighbor. Visited the Duke and NC State Arboretum while there - great places!

They are indoors. I live in Miami where it is mostly wet outdoors. They live on a West facing windowsill and get what I thought was plenty of filtered light. I tried watering them as not watering them seemed to have been the wrong idea.. And now two of the lithops have died as well. It does have a large hole in the bottom but I rarely watered this pot and when I do it is sparsely.. I have been on vacation so I will try to separate and re-pot asap. But I left a whole pot of several kinds of haworthia outside for the 5 days I was of town hoping to give them more sun and they seem to be doing worse than before I even left them under an awning so they would not get any rain. These plants seem to b the easiest to care for and still they are out witting me.

You could add both - I know Lena said it is not necessary (and it isn't an absolute must), but anything that will make the mix more porous is a plus. Especially if you are heavy waterer or if your plants are outdoors where it rains more often. I don't remember if you mentioned your general location (it is good to indicate by your name - as you can see most ppl do); I am in Ontario, Canada and have to bring plants inside for the winter but keep them all outdoors otherwise. All my succulents are in a mix of grit+perlite+turface and have been for almost 4 years now.

Is the bottom of that Haworthia dry & crunchy? If so, I'd cut it off, back to that lighter colored tissue & then dust the cut end w/ cinnamon & continue the care suggested above. Sometimes Haworthis just lose their roots, seemingly for no reason; one just trims it back & re-starts in dry in pumice/perlite as suggested above.

I'd keep that Strepto further from the window just in case. The P. afra ID is correct. Nice plants, healthy & happy looking.
