First I made the base for the seat. A square or rectangle, whichever one you want. I used 2 x 4's. Then I added the legs. The back legs can go to the top of the seat base, the front legs need to go high enough to support the arms of the chair. I used wider boards for that and had to cut it down to match up with the size of arm board I used. Then I cut down the the skid boards to fit the seat. Attached those to the seat base. I added a board to the front of it under the skid slats to hide the ugly 2 x 4. And I think I added one to the back to make it even for adding the boards at the back. Then I cut the boards for the back of it. Then cut them at an angle and cut the lengths to what I thought would look good. Attach the boards to the back at the seat base. I then cut a couple more pieces of the skid board to attach to the slats on the back of the chair. I did that because the boards on the back of the chair were sticking out at different depths. I used the boards on the back to hold them all even. Then cut skid boards for the arms. Attach them to the front leg and at the back of the chair. Paint and your done. I'm not good at explaining things so I hope you understood the directions. lol Deb

when in livonia.. where i had a great MI peat soil ... i could GET AWAY WITH ... sticking a potted plant.. right into the soil.. and never looking back ... the MI peat was 'close enough' ... then i moved to adrian.. where it is all mineral sand ... if i plant a pot with VERY HIGH PEAT potting media.. in sand.. EVENTUALLY ... the sand will wick all the moisture out of the peat ... and once that happens.. peat can become nearly water repellant ... and eventually.. the plant will die.. and this goes from perennials.. thru conifers.. and into trees ... though if the plant is aggressive enough to grow out of the peat.. its a non-issue ... so for me.. its the DIVERGENCE OF SOIL TYPES... which is a killer ... so over the years.. i have found that PROPER PLANTING ... at the PROPER TIME [FALL/SPRING IN MI] ... allows near full bare rooting.. and removal of the problem media/soil .. and while the roots are nudie.. some root pruning if horribly root bound ... and then planting into the native soil ... the issue would be NO DIFFERENT.. if you were in bad clay.. with peat potting media .. the clay MIGHT hold too much water at certain times of year.. and the peat would only hold more .... and very often.. a plant that rots its roots in spring.. will not LOOK dead.. until the heat of summer ... burns all the leaves off it ... and then we have a hard time.. figuring out.. when it really died ... ken

Thanks Ann--ok, I can see the bilateral symmetry on the first bloom (btw, the dessicated very sick bloom, dessicated though it was, looked beige before it crumbled in my hand). I'll post a link to each new photo, which might be better for your land line? This sepal, on another bush is not symmetrical. I feel worried because the sepal at 6:00 is growing a leaf on its tip. It's helpful to know I'm in good company! I've never seen anything like this rust outbreak in my garden. And nothing will move a rose out of my garden faster than Cheeto leaves! My RdR is mature, maybe close to 15 years in my garden. It's one of the first roses I planted and has always been super clean, but now it's super icky. I hope I managed to strip all the fungus. At least rust is a helpful shade of neon orange. Hard to miss! I even found some speckles on Tradescant and The Prince as well as Tamora! The weirdest discovery is what I DIDN'T find: rust on Abraham Darby. He rusted earlier (as always), and I stripped the infected leaves as the fungus presented itself. But now, smack in the middle of the big epidemic, AD only has his usual defoliating blackspot. Really?! Locals drive around with bumper stickers that say "Keep Portland Weird." My garden is sure doing its part. Carol
