Red, while clonal culture is actively being used in some parts of the world to increase the number of palms for planting, it is a very expensive process and not cost effective. A small number of countries are doing it with Government funding because they see the need to restore the date industry which was damaged back by the war. Because of the cost, it is probably unlikely that you will find someone to ship to the US and there is no one in the US doing it that I know of. The process was pioneered several years ago in the US (at UC Riverside I believe) but was not put into commercial production due to cost. If you do hear of a source, let us know. I know several growers who may be interested.

My tree-unfriendly neighbour cut today a big trunk of a Washingtonia robusta. I understand from this post that my chances of resprouting it in a pot are small but I think I'll give it a shot. Does anyone know which is the procedure with the root compound as tropicbreezent suggested on another post? Am I supposed to wrap it up somehow? Or perhaps put it in the compost mix? To be honest it's the first time I hear that such thing as root compound even exists.

After weeks of looking and recovering from the sticker shock in the plumbing stores I finally went on line and ordered one. Some of the vanities I saw in the shops ranged from $2000 to over $5000 for a 36 in vanity! I'm only a poor hard working Civil Engineer and I'm not paying thousands for a @#$%# vanity! You could also try Costco or maybe Sams Club. The mirror and and the side cabinet are included. Fresca does have other styles and colors. By the way here is something interesting. Over the space of two weeks I kept going back to different sites looking at vanities. By doing so the the price dropped from $900 to $760.00 for the one I bought. Be careful of anything less than $500. Most of it is particle board or is cheaply made. Check to see if the doors and drawers are square and how well the drawers close. Good luck.

Since you don't mind the drive, I would humbly suggest that you visit Jungle Music in Encinitas. The variety of palms offered is overwhelming and they seem to have a good selections of sizes (liners up to boxes). If you go to their web site (www.junglemusic.net) I suggest you go to the "Check out the blog". It's a great intro to many palms that do well in CA with lots of pictures showing various stages. I've learned a lot. For the record, I live in Atlanta, GA so most of what I've purchased from Jungle Music has been shipped as 5 gallon or smaller. More cycads than palms. Always great stuff.
