Ways to get tree cuttings to root with out root stimulator
Comments (5)Rooting hormones are a relatively inexpensive way to increase your chances. I can't see why you would want to avoid using them. I went the whole route. Bottom heat, a mist system on a timer, all under lath and shade cloth. Oh yes, and a rooting hormone. I successfully propagated hundreds of shrubs and trees. You should check out the GardenWeb Plant Propagation Forum. http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/propa/ Mike Here is a link that might be useful: Plant propagation....See MoreCan I cut this root
Comments (6)you know i used to ponder this... and spend a lot of time digging and cutting... and then one day.. i just started enlarging.. the hole.. near the root.. until it was big enough for what i wanted to plant.. and planted it 6 or 8 inches .. slightly off center of where i thought it had to go ... and found out it was a lot less work.. didnt harm the tree. and the spacing really didnt mean that much.. when all was said and done ... do you really need it in that precise spot???? if you doing this for a client.. simple ask them if that spot is so important.. or do they want to potentially.. hurt the tree.. work smart.. not hard... ken...See MoreFind Root graft? Comments (5)I have lots of pics but don't think it allows me to d/l more than one that I have to resize...Thanks for all of your info..I had no idea that there were THREE full size trunks and so, I did not know what to do. This is the picture of the satsuma...I see the hump described to me and only the largest trunk has the three leaves, on which 2 satsumas produced this year. We looked for anything BELOW that hump on either tree to cut off, but can't be sure what we are doing. I guess my understanding is that those full size trunks that seem to be at or below the hump should be cut off?? We cut one but not at ground level. If the three leaves are the key, then the (humped) trunk only should be left standing?...See MoreHi, I'm rooting some rubber tree cuttings and would like some advice.
Comments (9)Wow, I'd urge you to remove the cover immediately. Rubber plant cuttings take off really nicely so long as you don't over-water them. I must have made over 30 cuttings from a few different plants (one in pot, two in ground) in the last couple of years, and all I do it take a cutting, remove the last leaf to make an open wound, let it dry overnight, and stick the thing in soil. I have never had one die on me or not take root. Don't remove the leaves--and rooting hormone is not necessary. I never even cut the leaves. That said, I plant, I water and then I basically don't water for about 20-30 days until it's bone dry. A couple of months of doing that and you're set to go. No need to even check for roots; you'll see new growth coming up assuming the season is right....See Moretropicbreezent
