Well, Spring doesn't officially arrive for a few days, but it's always spring here in Spring, Texas!! Here are a few shots from today. HAPPY St. Patrick's day by the way...as I raise my glass of Guiness!

Remember the ugly duckling..mislabled Lilac Wonder that we think is San Remo?? Here's her first flower. YUCK!

But...this is her 3rd scape. Much better...although, now I sort of like the randomness of the first scape. Oh...I'm so hard to please!! :-) Do we think this is still San Remo!?! Even the shape of the petals has changed!

And, here's the Lima that we're guessing is Emerald. Lovely!! In this case, three's NOT a crowd!

And have to throw in a photo of the iris that started blooming the morning after I found out that Ralph (old biology teacher from Grade 10) had died:

Kristi, your flowers are all just beautiful. I think your ugly duckling looks great in both pictures. And your garden plants look so green and healthy. Ummmmm salsa!

I will be starting my tomato seeds soon. We've got 2 more months of possible frost here. That is so far away yet. Even though we had 72 degrees today, it won't last, it is just a very welcome tease.

Kristi, even though I would hate your warm summers, your springtime looks so good! This is the LONGEST cold winter toward spring I think I have ever been in...another day of 38 degree temps with intermittent rain. I did work with seedlings in my growing room where I am starting my flowers for cutting, but my tomato seeds have not even sprouted yet in the growing room, and look at the plants you are setting out!

As to your San Remo, the 2nd one is rather nice with the stripes but neither really looks much like the others I have seen, including the 3 I had this year, other then being the same colors. It will be interesting to see what they look like next year, whether they revert to a "normal" San Remo" or are off in their breeding.

Arif, Alana, and Russ, Arif, I will post photos of the parakeets tonight. :-) Thanks for asking about them! Alana, I LOVE my $199 greenhouse. Time to take it down, which should be pretty comical! I have someone coming to work on the side yard and am going to put shelves for them there...so look for me struggling with getting the greenhouse back into its bag soon! Russ, these are all new bulbs that were purchased at the Houston Amaryllis Society sale a month ago. They were all dormant and have put out scapes prior to leaves (except the one on the right side front of the group shot that has the very short scape...that one has been growing for months and put up a scape). All of my reblooming bulbs grew leaves throughout the winter and then delighted me with blooms. Once you have new bulbs that bloom, they will establish their own cycle and start blooming usually March-May here. Leave the leaves...they are needed for food production for the bulb! Went to the corner store today and picked up a nice hanging basket full of bright pink petunia's for the iron hook in my front yard. While I was there I took a look at the other flowers they had and found a daylily I had to have. So now "Double Red Royal" is nicely planted in my garden. It has a scape so should flower at some point. Can't wait to see its double bloom! I also got confirmation that my daylily orders will be shipped out this week. I'm so excited to see which bonus plants I got. When they arrive, I'll be worse than a kid in a candy store! Jason

Those are amazing!!! You have a gift with growing roses!!! Such glorious bushes!! Your MIP looks fantastic!! You've really showcased it! Wow - your PAOK is wonderful!! I have GOT to get that rose!! Hi Kristi,

I don't know what to say about you chameleonic 'San Remo.'

Although the dramatic change in petal shape seems very unusual, the blossom retain some San Remoishness.

I love that trio of Emerald flowers AND Guinness happens to be my favorite brew. I raise my glass to you!

Blanca and others...I really have a hard time believing that the "Remo" is the same plant, judging from first to last bloom! The first one was so....so.....icky. This last one (on the 3rd scape) is nice, but I don't know if it really is a San Remo. Probably just something that MZ's grower tossed in a bag. Funny, they think we aren't going to notice?!

Yikes, Kristi! So sorry for all the typos in my previous message.

Yes, M&Z is notorious for mislabeling their bulbs. This year alone, I received a 'Blossom Peacock' that turned out to be a really fertile 'Aphrodite' and a wimpy, washed out 'Ambiance' that may look better next season.

Well, the colors are San Remo colors, but... the shape and where/how it's colored are quite different! I don't really know! It's definitely different!

Nice garden, by the way... it's way too soon to plant outside here, but my Seed Dungeon is going strong!

I just got up and haven't had coffee, so my responses are stunted and I'm not quite thinking straight yet! LOL!
