If you could plant only two apples, and one was a Honeycrisp
Comments (7)I'm thinking you're on the northern edge of apple production and I'm not sure which varieties you're beyond the cut off point for. I assume you've looked at Snow Sweet because you're talking about 2 apples from the same breeding program. At least I know these would survive your winters and have enough season to ripen. If you're a sweet freak one of the early Fuji sports might be nice but I doubt it's hardy enough. Fact is, I don't know. If it could grow their it would keep you in sweet apples all winter. Sweet 16 is certainly true to its first name....See MoreIf could grow only 5..which would you choose?
Comments (52)OKAY, I'm officially updating my list based on this year's bloomerificness. 1. MIKE LONGO - this was so So gorgeous, green throat, great form, lots of blooms, overwintered for me in a fabric container outside 2. Marietta Polkdot- lots of blooms, foliage is actually attractive, and gave me some interesting colors because of heat (lost its polka-dots, but was still lovely) 3. Last Snowflake. The color is just fantastic 4. New Tangerine Twist 5. Viola Francois (need to see how this overwinters) Runners Up: Westbourne Miss Personality , Symphony of Fire, Marseilles Watercolor...See MoreForced to choose only 1 plant in your collection, which would you keep
Comments (36)Kara, holy cow!!! What a beautiful plant! I can't blame you for favoring this one. I wish I had one in my front yard. You must admire it every time you walk by. It is simply amazing...Thanks for taking that pic for us... Nancy, not sure which one I would keep either!! Lol. So many favorites but if forced, we would all have to pic one( Stupidlazydog...You crack me up lol I would have a hard time especially if I had the room to grow more like you to..You have some gems there and I love seeing you post them. Thanks Gabby, quite interesting..Does it grow slowly? What a great color on that. I am almost in love with anything that grows black leaves, like the 'black prince'. What a nice dark color on that one. Josue, wow, what a huge Aloe..I'll bet you could squeeze juice out of those leaves..Very big. Maria, did I ever tell you how badly I want one? Yup. I keep admiring your plant there. You must look at it every day and treasure that one. Love that one. Mike...See MoreIf you could choose only one, which one -- tulip tree or oak?
Comments (28)In between is 3 different oaks...black on right ... shingle in middle... probably red on left.... All planted same year...20 years ago.. In tree time I see little significant height difference...oaks grow just as fast in my sand in my MI.... nothing after water first year.. imo...the flower show is useless after 30 feet... I usually missed it ...lol...if you can see a yellow flower at 30 feet... There is an oak that turns burgundy in fall., I don't recall which... maybe scarlet?....I'll look for pix tomorrow if I remember... If you already have a tulip...collect some oaks....
