If You Could Choose Only One Climbing Rose...
Comments (28)I am looking for two climbing roses...one for over an arbor in the entry to my yard and one is for a pergola in my yard. I am in z6 (MA) and I am looking for as disease resistant a rose as I can get cuz I won't be spraying them. I really love Eden, but I was told she isn't a repeat bloomer and can be susceptible to rust (or some other nasty). Stinks cuz I love that kind of rose. I was also looking a Zephrine Dourhin cuz she is supposed to be thornless, but I think she may get too big. I like Jasmina & Renae also. I just would like a rose that can grow well w/o spraying and that flowers a lot without having crazy thorns or trying to eat my arbor. Should I rub a lamp? Lol. Also, I have seen roses sold online that say they are "banded". I am a newbie & have no idea what that means. Anyone have an idea? Ty in advance...See MoreIf you could only choose one...

It is called clematis paniculata but only by those who don't realize that clematis paniculata is a semievergreen to evergreen species clematis from New Zealand. The two are separate and different plants. Too bad about your SAC Chills. I could have sent you a plant since I still am finding babies in my yard from where mine reseeds even though I try and clip the faded flowers off the plant when flowering is done. This year, my new tact is going to be to shear the plant back by half after flowering is done to make sure I remove all those seeds. Maybe I will even get a new flush of blooms since mine normally blooms in early August. Florida Sieboldii is not a LFH but rather a hybrid belonging in pruning group III. Organicmickie, how in the world can you have 200 clematis and not have a Betty Corning? That is sacriligeous! LOL Get one and you will love it. By the way, make sure your triternata rubromarginata has good drainage or you could loose it over the winter....See Moreif you could choose only one...
Comments (13)Indeed, habs I find very fiery: two ultra-thin slices of a hab can take care of a whole family-size pot of food for me, so having found a store that keeps a regular supply of them means I can get them occasionally as or when needed. No need to have a bush-load and not enough bolognaise to dilute them all with! I have got my hands on some cayenne seeds and hoping they will get going nice and rapidly. I think I can likely get the right amount of fire from them and decent flavour too, using some of the brilliant sauce instructions on various threads in this forum. I have no ambitions about making home-made sauces in large quantities very often, so apart from an occasional blow-out (large-scale marinade production in BBQ season, for example), I think habs and the likes of them would mostly be wasted on me. Perhaps I need more practice eating the really strong stuff....See MoreIf you could only choose one David Austin rose
Comments (35)Sophia, Treloars ( in Victoria ) sell Soul Sister, bare root, winter mail order. They are on line, so, if you haven't checked them out yet, give them a look. They also have a very comprehensive list of DA roses. If you are looking for Julia Child at any time ( some VERY beautiful pics on various threads) Treloars have that listed as Soul Mate....See MoreRelated Professionals
