Suggest climber: continuous bloom, fragrant, dark pink
Comments (14)I just love checking in and seeing how hard at work everyone has been to help!! A great big thanks, from one big fusspot, to all of you other fusspots (you'd have to be know all this!) OK, some questions from Barbarag--Blackspot resistance is super important. I have to spray even resistant varieties in my humid, hot area. I've got a two story house, and the rose could reach the roof, or just over the first story. I would not like it to cover the entire house though. And absolutely yes I want good repeat even if I am lazy about deadheading. With a climber, I envision that I will be lazy about deadheading. Ingrid, funny you mention cl.Pinkie. I've just got her--plan to train her as a weeping bush in the back though. Cupshaped--you are making some superstar suggestions!! Leave it to you. Laguna looks stupendous. Anyone want to differentiate in terms of smell, color, repeat on Parade, Laguna, and Coral Dawn?...See MoreLooking for a continuous blooming BS free rose (other than KO)
Comments (22)You could have more variety of colors if you got some of the other Knock Outs also. They come in more colors than the cherry red in your photos. There is also a double PINK Knock Out. Then there is a yellow one (that fades whitish) that my neighbor swears is quite lovely, but it may be a single. And there is the Rainbow Knock Out which may also be a single--I'm not sure, having never seen one in real life, but I have heard some KO owners praise it also. It probably wouldn't help much, but Home Run, a bright red single that is distantly related to Knock Out, is very disease resistant, but its bright red would probably clash with the cherry red of your current Knock Outs. However, if you have an area where there are no Knock Outs, you might try Home Run. It's true red is a bit easier on the eyes than the cherry red of the usual KO. How do rugosa hybrids do in your area? They are highly BS resistant for me and come in whites and pinks--and I love those crinkled rugosa leaves. Kate...See MoreContinually Blooming Landscape Rose??
Comments (8)I have a landscape rose in front of our house between the sidewalk and the street called Snowbelt (aka Cassie). It is a polyantha dated 1997. We have several planted in a long strip. We put them in at least 12 years ago. It survives being flooded in the wintertime when the gutters & street overflow, gets walked on/by by people coming out of their cars, eaten by deer, and nonetheless blooms & blooms. I would not say it is completely "continuous", but it does bloom in frequent waves all Spring & Summer & Fall. It is blooming as we speak. It is very healthy. Once a year I cut them with hedge clippers, and throw some Osmocote on them, and weed out the few tree seedlings that have sprouted from the street trees (mostly black walnuts). I have never sprayed them. The flowers are semi-double, small (about 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter) and bloom in clusters. I love love the blossoms - they remind me of those of the old hybrid musk Pax, except they are smaller. I want to call them "buttery", I don't know why. The plants get about 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide, and are a nice rounded shape, and are always covered with dark green dense foliage. Anyway, if you want a care free landscape rose, I would definitely recommend this one. Makes a great hedge, too. Jackie...See MoreContinuous blooming yellow rose???
Comments (18)No problem Carla....just happy to get some response! Posted a few pics on the gallery and hardly any response over there. Guess folks like to make suggestions more than they like to gaze. lol. Maybe they feel like this friend we went to the Colorado Rockies with one time. We rode ALL the way from Georgia to Colorado and we get there and he says... "well, you seen one mountain, you've seen em all."" And was ready to turn around and go back home!!! Can you IMAGINE that kind of outlook??? It's become somewhat of a joke with us now about everything. SOOOOO I guess you seen one rose...you seen em all!! Hehehehe. Definitely NOT true with roses NOR mountains! Okay....i'll try to get BACK on subject here.... YELLOW ROSES.........See Moreroseseek
