Expectations from a newly planted Redbud tree that is root bound?

I bought a Redbud tree at Home Depot about a month and a half ago and I pulled it out of its pot to check for a matte of roots and I didn't see anything but black soil. I bought it because I had always wanted a Redbud tree and also because it was 50% off.

So I bought it and following recommendation from the forum, I sat it in the shade still in its container and watered it every 1-2 days. The weather finally turned cool here about a week ago so today I set out to plant the tree and some shrubs I had bought.

I pull the Redbud out and knock off some of the soil and it exposes a long and winding tap root (looks like more than one to me) and goes all the way down the pot and then back up before going back down. :(

I worked a lot of the roots loose but the taproot was still there imitating a bed spring. Its planted now but I was just curious if this tree is likely doomed or is there a chance that it will straighten itself out?

Thanks
