I accidently sowed a container of peppers back in like january, well I had germination but it was slow. Other than that I have only sowed one veggie and that was broccoli. LOL, I need to get busy. I would say since you are in zone 7 I wouldn't see what it would hurt to sow your peppers now or wait till this cold front that is with us now moves out from you guys. Are you experiencing this cold front?? Brrr!!

Thanks for all the congrats! I certainly was excited. I decided to sow several more heirloom tomato varieties I recently got in from Sand Hill Preservation. Thorndancer: It's certainly not too late in zone 6! It seems things are just beginning to kick into high gear, so you should see some green very soon. Vera, I was a bit nervous about doing toms, since that last hard April freeze. My little yellow pear sprout made it through freezing temps last night :), so they can take quite a bit. However, if it's projected to get in the teens again like last April, I will bring the tom sprouts inside. Margie, I live in southern Missouri, so I imagine it's a bit warmer here. Have you had much flooding near you? We're fine, but some in our area had damage, and a few roads are still under water in spots. I was surprised about the lemon grass sprouts ... I guess they are a perennial in some zones. I saved a few seeds back just in case, although it may not have been necessary. We'll see.

I have sevearl jugs of late sowed tomato seeds, honest those are the ones still waiting for. It is like they needed more time in chilling. All the ones I planted 2/15 thur3/28 did great but any after that still waiting on. Transplanting the 2/15 on ones this week. I have found the earlier ones do better for me in my zone 6, but have to watch for late frosts. Some of the hard to get seeds still waiting for the sprouts, but transplanted two flats out of two containers sowed on 2/15 this week. Oh and the kitty litter jug gets a wow from me. I dumped a package of brandy wine pink tomato seeds in it and they took off. ML

We have been having tomotoes right along since 4th of July along with all the other summer veggies. Our corn was short lived however - not a very good crop but what we had was really good. My hubby has been experimenting with various salsa recipes - he has canned up about 12 pints so far with varying degrees of hotness. Our pepper crop is fantastic. Yesterday I was able to freeze up 7 huge stuffed peppers - one pepper will serve both of us. All the hot peppers are producing on a regular basis. We have done up 30 or more pints of dill and sweet pickles. I love this time of year..... Lynne
